NnambismeriFriendly and helpful front desk. Comfortable room on top floor. Large comfortable shared lounge and games area if wanted for a group. Convenient location to universities and train station or town amenities by car or walking. Unfortunately, there is no on-site parking, but you can get advice for where in the city to park.
ผผู้เข้าพักDisappointing Stay – Would Strongly Advise Against Booking
I traveled to Festus for a car show and needed a budget-friendly hotel near local amenities. While this property met that basic requirement, nearly every other aspect of my stay was a disappointment—and at times, unacceptable.
To start, the hotel was unbearably hot inside. There was no functioning indoor air conditioning, and the common areas remained well above 80 degrees throughout my stay. Check-in was quick, but the front desk staff seemed unfamiliar with the facility—unable to even direct me to the pool, which I never located due to the complete lack of signage.
The complimentary breakfast was, frankly, insulting. The food options were minimal and unappetizing—particularly the English muffins, which were so hard they could double as hockey pucks. The oppressive heat made it nearly impossible to sit and eat in the dining area anyway.
My room, while clean, was far from comfortable. The mattress was extremely hard—comparable to sleeping on bare concrete—and the cramped toilet and shower area offered no room to move. Several cockroaches were spotted both in my room and in common areas, raising serious concerns about cleanliness and maintenance.
While I understand the hotel is currently under construction and the staff I interacted with were courteous, that alone cannot excuse the overall experience. The current conditions are simply not acceptable for paying guests.
I had high hopes for this location but left deeply disappointed. Unless you have absolutely no other options within your budget, or until after renovations are fully completed (well beyond 2025), I strongly advise against staying here. I will not be returning.
ผผู้เข้าพักBest place to stay in the Clayton/STL area if you are visiting WashU. Staff is A+. I have tried at least five other hotels, and since I stayed in January 2024, I constantly repeat when I visit the town. Breakfast is GREAT! This is not your typical breakfast ”INCLUDED!” Extremely clean! They are doing renovations, and you will be greatly surprised at how good it looks every time you go! Plenty of parking and safe! Stay here, you won't regret it!
ผผู้เข้าพักLocation was fine. Room seemed standard level of clean. Toilet paper is ultra thin, and the soap and shampoo was very watered down, so I left the room feeling dirty. Sofa bed was so substandard that we wouldn't let our 12 year old sleep on it. The springs really dig into your back. Everything seemed clean, but felt so cheap that we felt cheap staying there. Coffee machine in the room was broken and it didn't seem worth the effort to complain about it. Ex-wife complained about the air conditioner next to the bed being too loud and coming on and off all night long that she had issues sleeping. Breakfast was solid, though. Waffle station was a hit, though the oatmeal, like the soap and shampoo, was very watery. Eggs and sausage were above average. No sliced bread, though they offered English muffins and bagels. Staff was very friendly. Best part about the stay was how amicable they all were. Makes me feel bad writing the rest of the review. Would probably avoid the hotel in the future if there were better options. It's passable, but doesn't live up to my standards and doesn't seem worth the price.
ผผู้เข้าพักWe had a great time staying at the hotel. The staff were welcoming, nice, and very helpful! When my daughter could not find the bus stop and missed a bus, the front lady helped her so calmly to get an Uber, so that she was able to be on time. We really appreciate her perfect judgment. The hotel is close from the Metro, and located right across the beautiful library and within the walking distance to the Arch and the Union Station.
ผผู้เข้าพักI really only booked the room to have a place to sleep and shower for two nights, and the hotel got one of these right. The shower was a problem because, when the shower was turned on, water would gather on the ceiling and rain down. It was very unpleasant, so I skipped a shower on my second night, took a video of the problem, and shared my concern and the video with hotel staff when I checked out. Other than that, the room and common areas seemed to be mostly clean, although I cleaned things in the room that housekeeping clearly didn't get to (e.g., a sticky microwave knob). I also found the elevators intolerably hot. Yes, it was record heat outside, but I don't understand why the elevator cars weren't air conditioned like the rest of the hotel common areas. As for breakfast, it was okay for consumers of the standard American diet - I.e., high fat, high sugar - and, as a whole-food plant-based consumer, not terribly appealing. But, this is mid-America.
ผผู้เข้าพักBeautiful 1800 mansion like a museum, very original, well maintained, very clean. As it is promoted as Bed and Breakfast, we were expecting some sort of service, but it was truly self service AirBnB style. First, the house was very cold especially in the bedroom sleeping at night. Second, the breakfast was a disappointment. The description talked about have the access to the kitchen 24 hours especially breakfast. When we went to the kitchen in the morning, there was almost no food there. No eggs in the fridge. The cut watermelon in the container stores in the fridge was like days old and left over with just a few pieces there. There was some lettuce in a container but it was old with red/brown color on them. I found one cup of yogurt but it was expired on 4/7. While we were enjoying the historic house and experience, but we didn’t see the value of the money we pay.
