What a gem of a place! The special thing about this place is that there are 5 private outdoor onsens as well as a gender-segregated public bath and one mixed gender outdoor bath (for this one, you need to wear a bathing suit). If you are shy of exposing yourself or like taking photos, then those 5 private outdoor onsens are just perfect. I went in the autumn, which is cooling already and I can imagine what a treat it will be in winter with all the snow. The hotel is located almost to the top of the hill. Either drive or call them ahead and they will pick you up and drop you off in the vicinity. My room is quaint and Japanese-styled. I didn't pay for the meal package as I knew I'd would be busy trying out all the onsens available. They are all open 24hrs. By the way, private onsen number 1 and 5 are the best and most picturesque!!! I'm doing all a favor and posting all the pictures of the private onsens.

The room was beautiful, with tatami, yukata, tabi, and a little bag with towels to take with you when you go to their proper outdoor onsen that's right across the street. The onsen has good amenities, has 2 baths one indoor that's around 42 - 45 degrees, and outdoor one that's usually cooler around 38 - 42. The best thing about that onsen is that there usually not many people there, often I was there alone. The breakfast was great too, there were at least around 20 - 30 different dishes/foods to choose from. The hotel also sells discounted ski passes, and has it's own ski/snowboard rental service for lower price than most of the rental services nearby (the snowboard was of great quality, the shoes not so much). When we checked out, the hotel arranged a van to take us to the bus terminal as well. Overall, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at in Japan. 👌🏻

โรงแรมสกีออนเซ็นที่อยู่ใกล้กับสถานีกระเช้า Zao Ropeway โรงแรมตั้งอยู่สุดถนนลาดชันมาก แนะนำสำหรับผู้ที่เดินทางด้วยรถยนต์ส่วนตัว สามารถขับรถตรงมาถึงหน้าโรงแรมได้เลย การเดินบนทางลาดชันในช่วงฤดูหนาวอาจจะลำบากและเหนื่อยง่าย แม้ว่าจะใช้เวลาเดินเพียงไม่กี่นาทีไปยังสถานีกระเช้า Sanroku ก็ยังแนะนำให้ขับรถไปจอดที่ลานจอดรถเพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงทางลาดชัน จากหน้าต่างโรงแรมสามารถมองเห็นต้นไม้ที่ปกคลุมด้วยหิมะ (ต้นน้ำแข็งขนาดเล็ก) ได้ ขอแนะนำอย่างยิ่งให้ใช้บริการออนเซ็นกลางแจ้งแบบส่วนตัว (貸切露天風呂) ซึ่งสามารถแช่ออนเซ็นพร้อมชมต้นน้ำแข็งไปพร้อมกันได้

Woah! This is one of the best ryokans we’ve been to. The staff was super attentive and could speak some English, the rooms were amazing (see the photos!). The onsen in the room was fantastic so there was no need for us to go to the public or private onsen downstairs. The hotel is located 3 minutes away from the bus station and conveniently situated near everything. We’ve stayed at other ryokans but this one was top notch! We strongly recommend to stay at this place and will try to come back again with friends and family. Oh! The food was wow, too! We had breakfasts and dinners included and the sukiyaki dinner offered Yamagata A5 meat which was to die for. Breakfast was also great!

We had an absolutely an amazing stay in Tedoso. First, the hot spring there is amazing. We had never felt so relaxed in a hot spring before. The hot water and the cold weather is completely in harmony. Second, the service is sooooooo nice. They always welcomed us and out in a lot more effort than they needed to. Third, the environment is astounding. The Japanese style and the room is way beyond our expectations. The hotel is so neat and delicate, which made us feel like we’re in a whole new world. Last, the food is spectacular. We had food ranging from big and juicy pieces of sukiyaki beef to nicely cut and flavored sashimi. Our experience at this hotel is exquisite, and the price is highly reasonable, our family highly recommend you to visit Tendoso and give it a try. I’m sure you and your family would have a remarkable experience.

ดีมากๆ ค่ะ คนไม่เยอะ ราคาไม่แพง ห้องว่างเยอะเลย แถมโรงแรมยังอัปเกรดห้องให้อีกด้วย ไม่น่าเชื่อเลยว่าจะเจอแบบนี้ที่ญี่ปุ่นค่ะ การเป็นสมาชิก Marriott Lifetime Titanium ที่ญี่ปุ่น ไม่เคยได้ประโยชน์อะไรเลยเรื่อง 'อัปเกรด' แบบนี้เลยนะคะ ทุกคนก็น่าจะรู้ดีว่าการอัปเกรดห้องที่ญี่ปุ่นนั้นยากแค่ไหน

ทำเลที่ตั้งดีเยี่ยมค่ะ อยู่หน้าสถานีรถไฟพอดี แถมยังใกล้กับฮอลล์คอนเสิร์ตอีกด้วย สะดวกสบายมากๆ เลย พนักงานต้อนรับบริการดีเยี่ยม อาหารเช้าก็อร่อยถูกปากค่ะ พนักงานที่ห้องอาหารเช้าพูดคุยกันอย่างสนุกสนานด้วยสำเนียงยามางาตะ (ไม่ได้รู้สึกไม่ดีเลยนะคะ!) ทำให้สัมผัสได้ถึงบรรยากาศที่อบอุ่นเป็นกันเอง แม้จะเป็นครั้งแรกที่มาเที่ยวยามางาตะ แต่ก็ประทับใจมากค่ะ หากมีโอกาสหวังว่าจะได้กลับมาใช้บริการอีกนะคะ

I was looking for a ryokan to stay during my vacation in Tohoku area of Japan and stumped upon this ryokan. It is located to a small onsen village of Yamagata prefecture. Traveling to this location is not so convenient as JR Rikuu East line has suspended its service. However JR East provides bus service instead. This ryokan is operated by Ogawaya family. They are very friendly and very attentive. They don’t speak English well but this not a big problem for me who cannot speak Japanese. They offer breakfast and dinner with additional cost but must be booked in advance. Location is not close to any big city. It is suitable ones who look for a quiet place to unwind. Highly recommended if you want to stay away from tourist areas.
