Very good location with a nearby mall, eateries, gaya street night/weekend market and also todak waterfront for great seafood! Not forgetting the convenience store, bataras supermarket and the laundry! Just explore the street and you may find gems!
Friendly staff, the lobby smells so niceee and the room is humongous! Love it!
Room is basic and small. Condition is acceptable if you are not a picky person. The lift is small as well which is challenging if you are bringing large baggages. Plus point is the location which is close to gaya street.
My stay at Summer Hotel Kota Kinabalu with my friend was a pleasant experience for those looking for a budget room with two separate beds. The room was comfortable, although some amenities were limited. The location is a bit quiet at night as it is situated at the back, but overall it was a good stay.
This is our 3rd stay at Sky Hotel. We booked a 2-bedroom suite and checked in at night, but unfortunately the room was not clean. There was dust and powder on the sofa, the floor was sticky and dusty, some flooring was chipped, and there was an unpleasant smell.
We called reception to request a room change but were told the hotel was full. Housekeeping came to check and confirmed the room condition. We took some photos and went down to the reception counter, after discussingabout 10 minutes, the reception offered us an upgrade to a bigger suite, which was clean and much better.
Appreciate the staff for resolving the issue quickly, but the room cleanliness should be improved.
I request room near lift and near receptionist no corner room unfortunately I get room far from lift and receptionist and get corner room.
Air bertakung di dalam bilik, jadi kurang selesa 😢
Our stay in this hotel was okay , location wise it was super close to everything and obviously its in the middle of KK itself. I really loved the Christmas decor in and outside of the hotel. Room wise, it was very vintage , they provided Sabah Tea and Local coffee in the room which is nice but toilet has a bathtub but useless as it came without any stopper which is pointless to have a bathtub in the first place 😂I have no high expectation but at least change the toilet seat as it has yellow and black stain on it 😮💨🥲and most part of the toilet is quite dusty. Will i come back? i don't think so but it is an experience for a local like me and hoping they can slowly upgrade the room as the hotel have so muc potential to be viral with better amenities and level of cleanliness
BBrendon VI had an amazing experience at this hotel. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, expect the toilet is sharing and it's very dirty!. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything I needed. The location was perfect, and the view from my room was absolutely stunning — one of the highlights of my stay. Everything about this hotel felt high-quality, and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommend!
ผผู้เข้าพักI liked the location as it’s not too crowded and has easy parking. There’s a nice chilling space where you can enjoy the cold breeze with a view of Mount Kinabalu. Overall, the hotel is very clean, and the room’s interior design gives off a nostalgic 90s vibe. I was lucky to get a room facing Mount Kinabalu, so it’s the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The only minor inconvenience was needing to iron clothes at the lobby, which, as a Muslim woman, felt slightly inconvenient. However, I was okay with it. The service was good 👍🏼 I would happily choose to stay here again
SSamantha been stayed here for many times.. every time come visit kk will only choose this hotel due to its located in between Suria shopping mall and Wisma Merdeka and by walking distance to Gaya street .. however please take note this hotel a bit rundown due to years
ผผู้เข้าพักIt's a little out of town but I chose it for the close proximity to the beach and swimming ,which is about a 10min walk from the hotel. There are street food and drinks stalls available from about 3pm . Tanjung Aru beach is beautiful, uncrowded and the beach shelves away gently making it a safe swimming area. However, the beach had rubbish washed up and maintenance isn't a priority I guess. I swam everyday and didn't get sick ,that's a bonus.
The room ( the whole place)was tired looking, it could do with a lick of paint and maintenance. Room was clean when I got there but I strongly doubt it was cleaned in the entire time I was there for five days. Often had to ask for toilet paper , shampoo and shower gel , and coffee sachets etc ,basics to be stocked whenever housekeeping does their cleaning. Air con worked for me although the settings couldn't be altered !
The bed springs creak and you feel the springs when you sit on the bed but I slept ok only because I was usually exhausted from the day's activities . The beds and mattresses definitely need renewing though.
The fridge was mouldy and smelly , what a blooming shame : /
The safe was broken - hallelujah!
I kept my room door locked at all times only because Reception staff hardly looked up to see who comes and goes- they sit very low, almost out of view at their front desk. I wasn't convinced about their perception of safety especially as I'm a solo female traveller and I need to be alert and take great caution.
Casuarina Hotel are you taking note?
Reception is helpful but that depends who is present.
Lifts work fine without too much of a wait. The cafe on ground level serves an American breakfast but I couldn't tell you whether that's worth your while. It looked like Mary Celeste everytime I peeped in there so wasn't convinced about getting fed or a service. Therefore, I had fruit and snacks as standby .. There's a lovely restaurant a few yards from the hotel called the Yolo Seafood Restaurant which tends to open from 11.30am- delicious and inexpensive with friendly staff.
Grab taxi fare to city centre varies from MYR 7- 25 Ringgit ,the higher tariff if returning during commuter rush hours from city centre which is a 15- 25 min ride .
Would I stay here again ? I would actually knowing all its idiosyncrasis compared to so many awful or simplly mediocre accommodation charging an arm and a leg , I think Casuarina is just ok . Value for money? I don't think so .
AAIMRAN ABDULLAHStayed for a night before changing to another hotel for easy access to workplace(meeting)
It could be overwhelmed during rush hour, but was ok
Just the room do not disturb sign i am not sure working or not but my room almost being invaded by strangers prior check out
