I was generally satisfied with my stay at the hotel. There was only a small misunderstanding regarding the lunch boxes, but it was resolved. I especially enjoyed the UMU restaurant - everything there was truly delicious and exceeded my expectations. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience.
Check-in: Fast and efficient. The staff member attending to me was wearing a mask, which is understandable for safety, though her voice was quite soft and a bit hard to hear.
Birthday Cake & Room Arrangement: The room decoration and complimentary cake were a lovely touch. I appreciated the staff asking if I wanted it delivered to my room. However, since I had two rooms and my mom and sister were in the other room (my mom uses a wheelchair), I requested the cake be delivered there because I planned to go to their room so we could celebrate together and take photos. When the staff arrived, my sister opened the door while I was standing just behind her. They greeted my sister and not me, which caused some confusion. While it was a small miscommunication, it would help if staff clarify who the celebrant is rather than assuming it’s the person who opens the door. Overall, it was a thoughtful gesture.
Room Service: Fast and accommodating. One suggestion: for a 5-star hotel, providing more than one jug of water per room would be ideal.
Buffet Breakfast: Enjoyable with a variety of options. As someone who has lived overseas, I found the offerings leaning more toward local tastes. While fresh salads were offered, including at least one cooked vegetable dish in the main section would provide a different feel and more variety, especially for those with dietary restrictions. The taho and desserts were delightful and nostalgic.
Assistance with Luggage: The staff who helped us were very friendly and accommodating.
Rooms: Comfortable beds and pillows. The bathtub, strong shower, and water heater were excellent for relaxation. Toiletries were well-provided. Areas for improvement: the coffee table was shaky, the outside of the shower area tends to flood even with the glass doors closed, windows lacked sheer curtains (so rooms are either very bright or very dark), and the TV is outdated with no streaming options. Overall, the room feels more like a 5-star from 10 years ago—by 2026 standards, it feels closer to 4-star.
Staff: Very accommodating and polite. Everyone greets you warmly when passing by.
Facilities: Didn’t have a chance to visit the swimming pool or other amenities, so cannot comment.
Overall: A pleasant stay with great service and thoughtful touches, but the rooms and certain amenities could use updating to match a modern 5-star standard. Unless there are upgrades, I would rate this hotel closer to 4-star.
Pros: nice architecture , nice SPA & service, free mini bar (cup noodle & Pringle chips, coke and pineapple juice)
Cons:
- super slow reception (bad line management), smells really bad since it’s a ****** and alot of random people walk in and out and smoke.
- NO OUTSIDE FOOD or FOOD DELIVERY!!! that’s actually absurd, since as an tourist, I want to enjoy local food in the comfort of my own home/room, and that is not allowed.. really crazy.
- NOBE restaurant is also extremely overpriced and bad, we got the omakase.. and the presentation was horrible.. food was so so average..
- The pool is only open till 8pm, you don’t really have much time to enjoy it since during the day time it’s so damn humid and hot outside, realistically you will start using the pool around 6 pm ish when it’s least hot
- loud noisy room, you can hear the loud train, traffics, airplane noise outside, combined with the room next door.. it’s so loud , I am honestly shocked by how bad the sound proofing is
From the moment we arrived, the service at Nuwa Hotel was outstanding. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—always friendly, approachable, and quick to assist with anything we needed.
The room was incredibly spacious, well-designed, and offered plenty of comfort, making it a perfect place to relax after a long day. Every detail felt thoughtfully arranged, adding to the overall experience.
Overall, this hotel made our stay feel extra special. I highly recommend Nuwa Hotel for anyone looking for both luxury and warmth in their travel experience.
We absolutely loved everything about this hotel! It made our birthday trip so special and memorable. The entire stay was amazing - from the atmosphere to the overall experience. We truly enjoyed every moment and would happily come back again.
The hotel review:
My experience at this Shangri-La property was not as good as others in the region. The building and facilities feel noticeably older, which affects the overall stay.
In the room, the air conditioning was not adjustable. I do appreciate that the team promptly sent a technician to check it, but the unit remained very loud throughout the night, cycling on and off every few minutes, which made it difficult to sleep.
Traveling with another friend, her room also encountered an issue with the bathtub water appearing brown, which technician conclude that is due to sediment buildup.
Overall, I would recommend choosing the Shangri-La in BGC instead, as it offers a better experience.

MMCAS11I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Okura Hotel, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by the duty manager Ms. Lia.
Despite some initial challenges with obtaining an ironing board through the concierge, the duty manager went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met. Not only did she promptly address the issue, but she also surprised me with a thoughtful gesture by providing a platter of fresh fruits and even sending an activity book for my daughter, which truly made our stay memorable. Additionally, the flexibility of arranging a late check-out added further convenience and made our departure stress-free. The dedication and attention to detail displayed by the duty manager truly exemplify the high standards of service at this hotel. I cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning for another exceptional experience in the future
AAlodyahThe hotel is really nice but the check-in process was very slow. We booked 2 rooms with 2 double beds but they didn't have them ready for us. They offered smoking rooms, but none of us smoke and we had young children with us so we declined. We were given king rooms instead and were provided extra beds. That was annoying because the extra beds were just twin sized.
