This was my second time staying here, and it was just as good as the first. The chalet was different from my previous stay, but the quality remained excellent—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The experience was just as enjoyable, proving that this place is consistently reliable. Will definitely return again!
Very roomy unit with all the facilities needed. Aircon was on at arrival so a comfortable start.
Bed was good, bathroom was good.
Not motels fault but people in next door unit stayed up late and were noisy.
We are staying at the motel again next week.
The hotel is very old and evrything is ok. But the location is excellent, just at the Octagon, very close to the St Pauls Cathedral. You can walk to The First Church, The Otago Museum, The Otago University and The Dunedin Railway Station. The Baldwin Street is 15 minutes drive from the hotel. Highly recommended if you plan to do some city walk.
we chose this place because it's cheaper than staying at wanaka and it's en route to franz joseph. very small town but the rooms are adequate and has a small supermarket within walking distance for your needs but be aware that it closes at 8pm. there is also a restaurant within walking distance for your dinner. the rooms are not massive but adequate for an overnight stay.
ผผู้เข้าพักStaying one night at Wanaka. We chose this accommodation because its located at the center of Wanaka. Very convenient, we could basically walk to the beach, the supermarket which just right next to the lodge, and to restaurants. Would recommend this place if you’re planning to do a stopover at Wanaka.
The reception however only open until certain time and they will be available again at 2 pm. Make sure you get everything sorted when you check in.
Parking lot is pretty small so its a bit hard to park the car.
SSafiyoooI had a truly wonderful stay at this retreat. The place itself is absolutely spectacular — very calming, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking views. The deck is stunning, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
The owners were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and looked after throughout my stay. Their hospitality genuinely stood out. The dogs were lovely and added so much warmth to the experience. Breakfast was excellent, and the variety of teas available was out of this world.
As a female solo traveller, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and well cared for, which is something I value highly. The atmosphere is peaceful and nurturing — exactly what you want from a retreat.
The only minor downside is that it’s a bit far from the shops (around a one-hour walk). However, this was easily managed as Uber is only a 6-minute drive, and the hosts were also kind enough to offer lifts when possible.
Overall, an absolutely stunning place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay
ผผู้เข้าพักWe enjoyed our stay at the camp. A very different experience from hotels as it is communal living but with the privacy of your own unit. Staff were attentive to our needs and rendered assistance promptly. Would stay here again if I'm ever visiting Lake Hawea!
JJimmy正I stayed at the Law Courts Hotel recently, and it was a bit of a mixed experience. The building is very old and hasn’t had much renovation. The bathroom still has those separate hot and cold taps, which are inconvenient, and the carpet looked quite worn and not very clean—it definitely feels like the place could use some updating.
That said, the location is fantastic—right in the heart of Dunedin, so it’s super convenient for getting around. It’s also very affordable, which is a big plus if you’re on a budget. Just keep in mind that being so central means it can be noisy; Saturday night, in particular, was hard to sleep through with all the street noise.
Overall, if you’re after a budget-friendly place in a great location and don’t mind the quirks of an older hotel, it’s worth considering. But if you’re looking for something more modern and comfortable, you might want to look elsewhere.
