The stay was comfortable and peaceful overall. The room was quiet, which I appreciated, and I slept well during my stay. The room itself was spacious and adequate for a restful stay. However, I felt that the service could be improved, as it did not feel particularly warm or welcoming. Another disappointment was during my stay extension. As an existing guest, I would have appreciated a better rate offered directly by the hotel, instead of having to go through the full online booking process again. Breakfast is another area for improvement, both in terms of food quality and offering more local dishes rather than a largely Western spread.

Hotel is good, room is very neat and staff also supportive and it’s near to shopping and beach places , I suggest and recommend all to go ahead without any doubts.

The food is good for a 3 star hotel but it is not at all at the level of a 5 star hotel. The staff was excellent - especially Sneha M. who helps guests at the lobby and offers quick and effective solutions and also another Sneha who works at the restaurant. The music 🎶 in the restaurant is the worst I heard in any hotel in India. It is two types of music (classical Indian and also western) which are played at the same time! It is ridiculous and annoying and it is also too loud which is why some of the staff look miserable. The chef was walking around the dining room exchanging pleasantries with guests but he should be on the kitchen controlling what goes on there. The ”chai masala” had no taste of ginger and the milk was so burned that it kept steaming for a whole hour (it was undrinkable so I returned it). . The rooms are what you expect to find in a hotel that was considered luxurious in the 1990's. Unfortunately, the air conditioning system is still the original one and it can no longer be set (it can only be switched on or off).

It is a good stay. This is our 2nd time staying here. We chose here for 2 reasons; breakfast and value for money, but breakfast wasn't as good as it was during our first stay. Front staff were good, especially Aadhi and Samporna. Check-in and out were smooth. In room dining food was good. The room was soundproof, good, clean, and adequate with amenities, Thanks to Jittu, who takes care of that floor, and he is friendly too. Adyar A2B, Nandhana's, shopping shops, near to beach. Just note that it is pretty far to many popular places in the city, especially during peak, traffic can get chaos and take almost an hour but a good place if you are visiting mahabhalipuram or en route to Pondicherry. Overall, I recommend it. Nice stay.

I had an amazing experience at Hostel Gandhi during my second solo trip to Chennai! The location is perfect, being well-connected and situated conveniently between the railway station and the airport, with a metro stop nearby. The hostel itself is peaceful and offers a great ambiance for relaxing after a day of exploring. The atmosphere was very welcoming, with friendly fellow travelers and a charming host who made me feel right at home. I loved the three cats that roam the place (except in the rooms) – they added such a cozy, homely vibe to the space. The big parking area is also a plus for anyone traveling by car. The food served was delicious and decently priced. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I’d highly recommend Hostel Gandhi to anyone looking for a comfortable, social, and well-located place to stay in Chennai!
