This is our second stay in the hotel. The room was better than before, with clean couch. It’s spacious has large bed, thick mattress and balcony (but mostly for pigeons). The breakfast is good — you can eat something light, like toasts with jam or something more hearty, like meat and soup. For that price, it’s perfect place.
Would like to commend front desk staff Jason for personally attending to our check-in. He had painstakingly showed us to our Block B apartment room helping to also push 1 of our bags. As the room did not provide us with a sunrise view, had requested for a room change for the 2nd night and Jason himself again personally came to help us with the room transfer movement. His good english was a also pleasant surprise.as also his charming attitude and smiling look. The resort should cherish such young & kind-hearted staff. Kudos to him!
Also, there was a manager (unfortunately could not remember his name who had a christian name to his name tag and slightly burly sized) @ the indoor pool/spa reception who should be praised for also taking the trouble to allow us entry (though we did not book any slot) on our check out day for us to take some photo pics for remembrance. He actually helped us take our couple shot, took the time to showcase us the nice indoor pool and its magnificent balcony view before accompanying us out and showing us the way to the beach. Thank you kind sir!
The fantastic service we received from above 2 gentlemen is really testament to Shillamonogram's astute and comprehensive staff training especially with focus on customer satisfaction. Well done Shillamonogram. Will certainly recommend the resort for a wonderful staycation.
CClaraBest Western Sokcho was located in the perfect spot for Seoraksan Treks and also to the city centre where the Central market was. The Express Bus Terminal (not intercity bus terminal, do check with your driver) only 5mins away to Seoul, bus stop to 7 or 7-1 is 3mins away. eMart was 5mins away and Daiso was 10mins walk from the hotel. Amazing offer from Trip.com if booking made in advance. We were travelling in a group of 4 and booked two Ocean view deluxe twin rooms. Beds were Ace bed, slept very comfortably for the 3 nights stay. There is a coin self laundry service at basement. Ocean view was blocked halfly but good enough to see sun rise from the beach which is only 10mins walk away. There are many good eateries around the hotel as well as near the beach, the lake and at the Central Market. One incident made the stay unpleasant though, we bought the famous Manseok chicken from the Central Market for a beer and chicken night after climbing the peak of Seoraksan Daecheongbong for 12 hours, the cleaning staff threw away our food (a box with full chicken inside) without asking. The reception staff reaction was disappointing as they didn't seem care. In the end, they offered to re-order a random chicken for us but we refused to take it as the mood was totally ruined. I have to say there was not much service per se at Best Western Sokcho as it is more like a service apartment but the hotel room quality, the location and price were fantastic. I will recommend anyone who like trekking Seoraksan and exploring around Sokcho to stay there but do not expect for hotel service.
