It’s a beautiful hotel full of history and close to all the landmarks. The service is professional. If you drive and need a carpark, make sure that you ask them for a discount daily pass.

It is a perfect holiday to me. The room was thoroughly cleaned and free of insects. The staff maintained a polite attitude throughout the stay and proactively asked about guest satisfaction during checkout, indicating consistent service standards. The room setup is minimal, providing only essential items such as a bed, shower towels, and paper cups for water. This configuration is suitable for short stays, particularly for travellers visiting Mont Saint‑Michel. Breakfast offered a complete basic selection, including bread, eggs, tea, coffee, yogurt, and fruit. Scrambled eggs were refilled regularly, which ensured availability. A fly was observed on the cheese, suggesting that additional attention to food‑area hygiene could further improve the experience. The taxi service recommended by the hotel performed at a high standard. The driver consistently arrived within minutes, communicated clearly in English, and was reachable via WhatsApp. Assistance with luggage and door service was provided, and pricing was reasonable for the level of service. On that cold and dark winter evebing, we were gracefully helped by phone by the reception lady in order to reach the hotel located within the pedestrian corner of the city. A beautiful Maison de Maître serves as the Edgar hôtel. Check-in was swift and pleasant, and we had access to an elevator for our humougous suitcases. We entered a beautifully-decorated and warm bedroom, and were nicely advised by our receptionist on which restaurant would be open for dinner (winter Sunday night). Had a resting sleep and a tasty breakfast. Only good things to say, basically. I want to emphasize here that we had a wheel chair accessible bedroom on the 1st floor (the hotel has 3), which I found interesting. The bathroom was all planned for wheel chair access. In case anyone here needs this type of facility, you can book Edgar hotel!

The sleeping area was good, the mattress was comfortable, and I slept well. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they also provided a map and useful information about the Intra-Muros area. However, several other aspects need improvement. The bathroom showerhead had mold, so I did not want to use it, and although the rain shower was acceptable, the water pressure was low. On windy days in Saint-Malo, it was impossible to enjoy a comfortable hot shower. The breakfast was average, and the hygiene was only fair; I saw flies landing on the food and honey. A kettle was provided, but the one in my room was rusty, so I was not comfortable using it. Overall, I was disappointed. Considering it is a four-star hotel, I do not think it was worth the price.

I booked a room with a terrace, hoping for a beautiful sea view, but I was assigned to the ground floor, so I couldn't see much. I understand that room availability is limited. The facilities in the room are not very clean, and this four-star hotel seems to require a lot of self-discipline from guests; cleanliness is something that guests need to manage themselves. Since I usually do a preliminary clean when I check into a hotel, I found that the wet wipes I used to clean the freezer turned brownish in colour, making me completely hesitant to use the freezer. The living room is spacious, but the shower room is very narrow, although the kitchenette is well-equipped. Overall, it doesn't feel like a four-star hotel.

En ma halte à Saint-Malo, je trouvai cet hôtel fort plaisant et de belle tenue. Propreté irréprochable, commodités confortables et service mené avec grande gentillesse par les hôtes, lesquels avaient l’œil vif et l’accueil franc. L’emplacement sied parfaitement au voyageur, proche des voies sans être troublé par leur tumulte. Hélas, malgré mes espérances, je n’y vis point le sieur Surcouf, sans doute déjà reparti en course contre quelque ennemi du royaume. Qu’à cela ne tienne : l’hôtel mérite pleine louange et reçoit de ma part cinq sur cinq.

The room had recently been painted, the smell of paint was pungent, parking good. The pool and facilities were not available with our booking, this was not clear and disappointed we could not use the pool unless paid as an off the street person. We declined to pay and spent time on the beach instead. Breakfast was paid for separately as well, a good choice of foods and good coffee. The breakfast dining room had a stunning view of Doureneze bay with a sailboat race for entertainment. On the whole a nice place but the rooms in the *** block across from the mail hotel are a bit to be desired, pay the extra and stay in the main hotel****.

A truly charming and luxurious small hotel in the historic city center. Lovely rooms with huge bathrooms including soaking tubs. Peaceful Zen garden and living room. Splendid full breakfast buffet and full.bar. Cheerful, welcoming staff, too. I couldn't have asked for more.
