First the good news: The resort is beautiful. The landscape is nice and the beach area is beautiful as well. The buffet (both at Iberostar Selection and Coral Level are good). The a la carte restaurants are nice and a level up from the buffet. Everyone working at the resort is trying to keep customers happy (thanks Yolanda for making the restaurants reservations ahead of time). The evening programs were nice. Second the not so good news: Problems with the room. After upgrading our room to the ocean from presidential suite and waiting an hour to be ready not everything worked as expected. The TV in the living room was not working and it took a couple of phone calls and a day to have it fixed. The jacuzzi which was advertised as part of the room did not work either and it took two days to have it fixed. The A/C in the bedroom could not get to a cool level during the entire stay. And finally one night the electricity went out at midnight and didn’t come back until the next morning (intermittently). No explanation or apologies from the hotel was ever provided). So plan your expectations accordingly.
Beach: beautiful Food: average but lots of variety Aka carte: went for 3 dinners - buffet was better Staff: overall okay. Most don’t speak any English. Resort/rooms : Very good Cleanliness/grounds keeping: very good Entertainment:Good Pros: reasonably priced Cons: Too many vendors at the beach, esp for braids, and excursions. Some guest mentioned they were approached for fun on side, when it was discovered that they were single. This was a big down side for me. Security pacing up and down, both these things notook away from the relaxation. Management needs to do something about the vendors. Would I go back. Not likely
Overall the hotel is average, would definitely recommend another RIU hotel. The rooms need refurbishing. The furniture and beds are old, contain bed bugs which made it unpleasant to sleep on, and sadly had travelled with us back on our clothes and suitcases. The power sockets don’t work at all. There are cockroaches in the room, we informed the receptionist regarding the matter and we were promised to have someone sent to use a spray, but we waited 2 days for someone to come. The hotel itself is okay, the pools could be cleaned more often, as on many occasions there was rubbish and dirt swimming in the pool. The food is avarage, the drinks are okay. No ATM in the hotel as well which can cause unnecessary hassle.
Stay at one, play at 2. Two great resorts with many activities, great restaurants, many dining options and friendly staff. Oh, the WiFi were fantastic and worked pretty much throughout the vast areas of the 2 resorts, no need for different passwords, my phone auto connected continuously
My family and I (myself, husband and 5yr old son) stayed at Princess Family Club from June 15-21. When we arrived Nes at the front desk was so kind and welcoming. He handed me a glass of champagne and quickly got us checked in. Much appreciated after a long day of traveling. He did let us know right away that the elevator was out of order, but that they were working on getting it fixed. Pedro, helped us with our bags and let us know that there was a second elevator but it was waaay in the back. It too was out of order when we checked in but it did work the reminder of our stay. We also saw the elevator maintenance company on site everyday so they were trying to address the issue. It did get fixed on our last night so better late than never. The children’s water park with accompanying buffet and bar were amazing to have access too. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, coffee, beer, cocktails on hand until 4pm was a life saver. My personal favorites were the chicken pastelitos. I always made sure to grab as many as I could when they were on offer. I didn’t get the name of woman who was behind the buffet but she was so kind and greeted us everyday with a beautiful smile. Nikole was our favorite waitress! Also, so kind and attentive. At the kids club my little one was not a fan, but that was mostly because he didn’t connect with the other kids (language barrier). He much preferred being in the pool. Thank the good lord for Nancy!!! She was so amazing all week. Everyday when she saw us she made sure to check on us and always made sure our son was good (and me lol). Food: I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. The food is the family club buffet was very tasty and seasoned well. My favorite meal was at El Pescador. The food was cooked to perfection!! My least favorite meals were at El Guacho and Il Tartufo. At El Guacho the empanadas were just okay. I could tell they weren’t freshly made like the pastelitos I had at Mordisco. At Il Tartufo, the gnocchi in pesto was WAY overcooked and the barnzino with mashed potatoes was very salty. The selections at the main buffet, La Hispañola were also tasty and there were many options for everyone in the family. The Ice Cream truck near the main lobby is so cute and the perfect ending to dinner. We had ice cream every night! In the event that you want something off the menu that’s “special” like the ribeye, it will take 45-50 mins because they do not keep it in that particular restaurant. They have to get it from the central kitchen and it can take time to order, receive and cook it. Definitely not mentioned on the menu. If you really want it, my husband recommends calling way ahead. The WiFi is not that strong and that could definitely use some improvement. The signal is great in the lobbies and restaurants but not great in our room. Seeing as how you need the app to make reservations for dinner having strong WiFi in the rooms would be helpful. Stay far far away from anyone in an orange shirt!!!! They are t
Punta Cana Princess STOPPED IN TIME ! This is my seventh trip to the Dominican Republic in the last 20 years. Tourism is becoming more massive and the quality is falling. I love the Dominican people, their generosity and friendliness. As the quality of services is falling, the friendliness of the staff is not always enough to satisfy customers. The lack of training and leadership among the staff at the various hotels and resorts is very clear. The Punta Cana Princess is a very small resort and it would seem simple to keep quality under control at a high level... unfortunately this is not the case at the Punta Cana Princess. I even wondered if they had given up on doing more and better. I have no reason to say that it's a wasted vacation spot, but I left with the feeling that everything is done with minimal energy, minimal enthusiasm, minimal leadership, minimal effort, minimal customer focus, minimal glamour and where the notion of going the extra mile doesn't even exist. (See attached photos) Beach and pool: The beach is very beautiful and the area has little seaweed. The beach chair area is small and very poorly looked after. It's very dirty and the sun beds are old and dilapidated. The straw is rotten and full of termites and other worms that cause many bites on the legs. The pool is large and in urgent need of maintenance (see photos). There are very few sun umbrellas and there is hardly any shade around the pool. Gardens: Perhaps the strongest and most pleasant point of the resort as the maintenance and cleanliness is exemplary and the spaces very large and green. HI-FI: (See photo) Ridiculous service. Impossible in 2024 they want to charge for a terrible service when the free service is not available 90% of the time. The speed delivered 10Mb is completely out of our time. Is the leadership of this hotel asleep? Animation: Basically non-existent. The Punta Cana Princess is for adults only and is actually frequented by older guests who are perhaps looking for calm and quiet. Anyone looking for parties and lots of entertainment shouldn't choose this resort. The entertainers have no ability to create empathy and there are embarrassing moments when you see the entertainers asking people with a lot of pressure to participate in the few beach and pool animations. I observed that they treat older people in the same way as they would twenty-year-olds which makes communication with customers very difficult. Rooms: Very large and with an interesting design. Excellent cleanliness. Fridge stocked with drinks without fail. The furniture is in urgent need of maintenance, as are the metal fittings and bathroom fittings (see photo). No problems with the air conditioning in my room. There are only two electrical sockets, which is insufficient for me. Restaurants and bars: The bars deliver a minimal service and the staff are inexpressive and unsympathetic, as in other departments there are no smiles and sometimes not even a simple “good morning”. JJuliette BernadetteWe had an okay trip to DR. The “hotel” is more like apartments, and people do seem to live here actually also. The rooftop pool is so awesome, and literally the best part of the place. The room is clean, but we killed probably 4-5 cockroaches in the room. Stove was all rusty. When arriving, the door didn’t lock & we were 2 women in their early 20s who are both > 130lbs. When requesting a new room, they “fixed” the door and refused to give us a new room. Scary location - we didn’t feel safe walking around at night here as women. Also, were scammed by a very nearby restaurant called “Bohio Punta Cana”. Free breakfast was awesome. No conditioner, only shampoo and “gel”? No hand soap. The shower seems to be salt water. I would honestly recommend staying on a resort if you come to DR, otherwise you might never want to come back.
We had an amazing stay at this location. Plenty of parking, with 24 hour security and private gated entrance. The breakfast is absolutely great!! I will definitely return! The heated pool is so relaxing with the outside bar area and restaurant. Rosa and Alvaro were very attentive and professional.
The beach is beautiful, scenic, and very clean. The pool is very clean and always lively. There are many activities and things to do across the resort, as well as many restaurants with amazing foods. The people and staff were very friendly and fun. Would definitely recommend.
