ผผู้เข้าพักZhangjiajie Idyllic Pondside Timber Lodge feels like a quiet retreat designed for people who want to slow down and reconnect with nature. From the moment you arrive, the setting stands out—lush gardens spread across the property, carefully maintained yet still natural enough to feel authentic. Walking paths wind through greenery, leading you past tranquil ponds where the water reflects the surrounding trees and sky. It’s the kind of place where even a short stroll becomes part of the experience.
The ponds are a highlight. They’re not just decorative; they create a calming atmosphere that carries throughout the lodge. Sitting by the water in the early morning or at sunset is especially memorable, with only the sounds of birds and the occasional ripple breaking the silence.
The rooms continue that same sense of comfort and simplicity. Built with timber elements, they feel warm and grounded rather than overly polished. Inside, everything is thoughtfully arranged—clean, spacious, and equipped with the essentials for a relaxing stay. Large windows often bring in views of the gardens or ponds, making it easy to feel connected to the outdoors even when you’re inside.
The service was outstanding. All my needs and questions were answered promptly.
What really defines the lodge is its balance: it offers comfort without losing its natural charm. It’s not trying to be flashy or luxurious in a conventional sense—instead, it succeeds by creating a peaceful environment where the surroundings take center stage.
Overall, Zhangjiajie Idyllic Pondside Timber Lodge is ideal for travelers looking for a calm, nature-focused stay. Between the gardens, the serene ponds, and the cozy rooms, it provides a refreshing break from busier, more commercial accommodations.
RRachchelloThis hostel is 40min drive away from the high speed rail station but conveniently located 5 min drive away from the west gate, which allows one to escape from the queues. We were here during the Easter holidays and even then, didn’t have to queue up for the cable cars or eco buses. Most tourists entered via the East/South Gates thus we traveled from a counter direction. There isn’t much around the hostel so be prepared to fully immerse into the quietude of village life and the songs of roosters and birds. The nearest “town” (a few supermarkets and maybe two village restaurants)is also 5min drive away and Xiaozhao nicely offered us a drive on the Buggy. There isn’t any taxi around. The ride from here to downtown ZZJ or the high speed rail station would cost around RMB200.
I like most the scenery from our spacious veranda, with a view to some classical zhangjiajie landforms, and equipped with a huge tea table and a jacuzzi. It was raining often, but I had fully enjoyed my waiting time till the sky cleared up.
Xiaozhao took meticulous care of us - he quickly tended to any requests and offered great recommendations on travel routes. The compound is deeply surrounded by trees and offered good privacy. Food is a little overpriced but taste is good.
Drawbacks…as they position as a high-end boutique hotel, the facilities and decors are a bit aged. TV screen was small by current standard and they can do better with the coffee.

The hotel: A 4 floor Building located next to Xibu old Street. Decorated with a rustic and tradicional style, this beautiful hotel counts with lots of public areas available to its guests. It counts with an elevator and free-to-use laundry service.
Location: 7/10. Its located next to Xibu old Street. Unfortunaly Xibu Street is no longer opened to the public. However, this makes the location a quiet place to stay. Its located in Wuliungyuan, the city where the East location of the Zhangjiagie nacional park is located. The entrance to the park is 2km away from the hotel. 6 minutes away on a Didi/Taxi ride (around 6 yuan price).
The staff: 10/10. The staff helped us whenever we needed since the beggining. They sent us a taxi to take us at Zhanjiajiexi train station. Check in was smooth, we got a room located in the Third floor. They adapted to our requests at any moment and answered to all our questions. We would like to specially thank to Liuya. Thanks to her help, from buying atraction tickets, planning routes for the national forest, the canyon and mount Tianmen, from recommending us local restaurants and dishes, she made of our stay such a pleasant and great experience.
The room: 10/10. Big room for 2 persons, rustic style, big windows with views to Xibu Old Street. Although the area is abandoned, the views are unique, picturesque and photogenic. The beds were confortable. Light was good and the bathroom was good. The bathroom was nice too.
Breakfast: 7/10. The breakfast is traditional buffet. We missed more occidental variety, but we were able to satisfy our needs. The staff adapted to our requests: we requested coffee on our first day, and the days after, every breakfast a coffee jar was available on the buffet. We are really grateful for It.
In resume: We completely recommend this hotel to visit Zhanjiajie and its surrounding areas. Location is nice and quiet, the rooms are big and clean, the staff is amazing, relation quality/price is prerfect and we couldn't ask for more. If we visit Zhanjiajie again, we will stay again her
