I reserved an ACCESSIBLE room on the first floor for today and tomorrow. Check in time was 3pm, I arrived at 6:30pm. When I checked in, I was told that the non-smoking accessible rooms on the first floor were all taken. I asked how that could be, because I had a valid reservation for one. I had just confirmed the reservation with the front desk the afternoon before. When the clerk asked me if I had asked to have an accessible room ”set aside”, I said, ”No, because I had a valid, confirmed, reservation for that room.” I was given a non-accessible room on the 3rd floor. I am wearing a leg brace due to a knee injury. The toilet is too low to get off of without the use of my crutches, and taking a shower will be difficult without the extra hand rails and not being able to walk in vs. having to step into the tub. When I came back downstairs to get some items in my car, I made a comment to the clerk about the toilet being too low for me. He said, ”Well, if the gentleman who has been promised the room comes in, and he doesn't need it, the I can switch you to that room.” I looked at him in disbelief and said, ”I had reserved that room months ago. Why was it promised to someone who isn't even here? Is that what a reservation is supposed to be for???? Thank God I'm not in a wheelchair, I don't know what I would have done.” The clerk did apologize, but it doesn't fix anything. I will not stay at another Choice hotels brand. This is my last stay.

We did not have a very enjoyable stay. The size and layout of our suite was very nice and the unit was very nicely equipped - fully functioning kitchen, shampoo and conditioner in the shower and a comfortable living room/sitting area. However, we found a large cockroach under our bathroom sink - it was dead but we had to deal with it. I wanted to call the front desk and have the cleaning crew take care of it but it was late at night and we just could not stand to have it in the room so we wrapped it up and got rid of it....disgusting. Also, the beds (in both bedrooms) were extremely uncomfortable. My wife and I had 2 nights of bad, restless sleep. Our daughter was travelling with us and she had the same experience with her bed. These mattresses both need to be replaced. The last thing I found was the shower controls - it was so difficult to adjust the water temperature - you could choose between extremely hot and scalding hot. In order to get a tolerable water temperature, you had to turn the dial way down but at that point, the water pressure was really low. I don't want to seem like I'm piling on and I probably would not have mentioned the shower issue if the other issues were not present. The most basic items of a hotel room are (1) the room needs to be clean and (2) the beds must be comfortable...our room failed on both counts. I brought the issue up to a staff member at the front counter and asked if we could change rooms...that individual indicated the hotel was completely booked so there was no opportunity to move to a different room. They said they would make a note of it and we may be able to get a discount on this stay or future stays. When we checked out there was no note/information about our complaints and no discount was applied. I am a Hilton Honors member and whenever I travel, I always prefer to stay at a Hilton group hotel (was just in Chicago last week at the Hilton) and this experience was EXTREMELY disappointing. When I am back in this area, I will not chose this hotel.
