**Absolutely fabulous gem of a hotel – we’re already planning our return!** I’m almost reluctant to sing its praises too loudly in case we can’t get a reservation next time, but I simply cannot recommend The Ocean highly enough. This place is an absolute standout. From the moment you arrive, the service is exceptional. The team is warm, highly attentive, and genuinely approachable – every single member made us feel like valued guests rather than just another booking. They anticipated our needs before we even asked, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Breakfast was superb, with a wonderful selection to suit every taste and waistline. What really elevated it was the full table service – a lovely, touch that made the whole experience feel special and relaxed. The hotel restaurant is an absolute must. After scouting every other option in the area, we ended up eating there both nights of our stay because it was, without question, the best find around. The menu offers a fantastic selection, everything is cooked fresh to order, and every dish we tried was outstanding. The portions are generous yet perfectly judged – so much so that we sadly couldn’t squeeze in a dessert, though the menu looked every bit as tempting as the mains. The hotel itself has been decorated with real taste and care throughout. Our room was stunning – fresh, modern, and incredibly welcoming, while still feeling cosy and homely. It’s such a refreshing change from the usual tired, tacky seafront offerings; the team has clearly poured heart and soul into creating somewhere that feels both stylish and genuinely comforting. Overall, The Ocean is a superb find – one of those rare places that ticks every box and leaves you smiling from check-in to check-out. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area. Beautiful hotel not far from city centre. Staff were lovely and welcoming. The room was large, with twin beds put together, which was unexpected with one duvet over both. I did expect separate twin beds, but it was ok. The hotel itself is full of history, including a knight. I called him Gerald. I would love to have been there longer than the one night so I could fully explore the hotel. We did not use the spa, and again, I would have loved to. We are likely to go back to fully experience what the hotel offers. Parking was easy, with plenty of spaces. Breakfast is buffet style plenty to choose from. No one shows you around just go and help yourself. We look forward to going back.

Excellent hotel location for the heliport, always clean, with nice gym and pool. Had comp breakfast which was very nice.

A faultless experience from the friendly check-in to smooth check-out. The room had everything needed and the bed was comfortable. Location is ideal for being in the centre of town. Would definitely stay again.

We were very pleased with the hotel. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were well maintained and elegant with nice seating outside. The breakfast staff were also friendly and efficient. We were disappointed that the restaurant is not open Sunday evenings but that did not spoil our stay. We didn’t use the leisure facilities but will should we visit again.

The summer room is a small cosy unit attached to the main house with a separate entrance. It's about 30 minutes's walk to the city centre. We preferred not to walk the quiet streets after dinner to get back to the flat. There are a lot of parking options and it's a flat rate of 3 to 4 quids after 5 pm to the next day.
