Tonglu is located in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, in the middle reaches of Qiantang River, Fuchun River runs through the county. Tonglu was founded in 225 A.D. and belonged to Yanzhou. It rose to the Prefecture in 621 A.D. and merged with water in 1958. It belonged to Hangzhou in 1960. Tonglu has a long history and rich humanities. It has a reputation of "the beautiful land of Zhong Ling, the land of natural civilization". Fan Zhongyan, a famous Minister of the Northern Song Dynasty, was impressed by the strange mountains and rivers of the land, praised it as "Xiao Li Tonglu" and wrote a famous book "Xiao Li Tonglu County Shiyong". Tonglu County has long ranked first among the counties (cities) in the western Zhejiang region in terms of total economic output. It is the most powerful County in the western Zhejiang region. It has the honorary titles of "Town of Private Express in China", "International Garden City".
