The old site of the National Government of Wuhan (Nanyang Building in Hankou), located at 708 Zhongshan Avenue in Hankou, is the office building of Nanyang Brothers Tobacco Co., Ltd. invested by Patriotic Overseas Chinese Jane Brothers, and is the only existing central government seat for cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. The building was built in 1917 and 1921. Nanyang Building is a cement reinforced structure, strong and magnificent, rich and elegant, rich in European architectural style. It is the landmark building of Wuhan's famous historical and cultural city. It is also called one of the three famous buildings with Yellow Crane Tower and Red Mansion. Nanyang Brothers Tobacco Company was founded in 1905 by Jane Brothers, a Japanese overseas Chinese in Foshan, Guangdong Province, and has become one of the fresh forces of national capital against foreign capital. The company's "White Crane", "Pegasus" and "Shuangxi" cigarettes compete with the "British", "Old Knife" and "Three Fortresses" cigarettes produced in the United States, Britain and the United States. In 1917, after several ups and downs, we finally embarked on the stage of rapid development. As a long-term strategic decision, we invested a lot of money to build this building in the downtown area between Minsheng Road and Minzu Road at the head of Liudu Bridge on Zhongshan Avenue in Hankou. The old site of Wuhan National Government was designed by a civil engineer from Berkeley, USA. It was constructed by Hanheshun Construction Plant and built in 1920. The building used a very small number of reinforced concrete structures in that year, but also a very few buildings with elevators in that year. There are five layers in the middle and six layers on both sides. They are symmetrical and magnificent. The exterior wall of the building is 36-60 cm thick brick wall, the front is washed stone flour, the roof is built with corridor, dome, arch, bell tower shape and balcony, full of European architectural style, covering 885 square meters, the main building area is 4740 square meters, and the attached building is 2000 square meters. The first and second floors of the building are business premises, and the second and more floors are guest rooms. There are dance halls and cinemas in the building, which are decorated and equipped with luxury. The old site of the Wuhan National Government condensed the course of Chinese national capital and occupied a very important position in the modern history of China. In September 1926, the Northern Expeditionary Army occupied Hankou. In December of the same year, the National Government moved its capital from Guangzhou to Wuhan. Nanyang Building was chosen as the office address. At that time, the important leaders of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, Wang Jingwei, Xu Qian, Song Qingling, Deng Yanda, Chen Youren, Mao Zedong, Dong Biwu, Li Hanjun, Yun Daiying, Wu Yuzhang, He Xiangning, and so on, had been active here. According to the introduction of the book "Wuhan Revolutionary Scenic Spot", more than 200 important resolutions were made here in that year, covering the reorganization of transportation, finance, handling labor disputes, punishing local tyrants and evil gentry, etc. The most important thing is to lead the Chinese people to recover the Hankou and Jiujiang English Concessions, and to determine the capital of the country, with Wuhan, Hankou and Hanyang as Jingzhao districts, and to name Wuhan. It has made important contributions to stabilizing the revolutionary order and promoting the development of the national revolution.
