The park is located in the southeast end of Montreal Island, east of the St. Lawrence River, a relatively wide river, the originally calm and mighty flow suddenly because of the increase and change of reefs to gallop up, so this stretching into the river like a PI shape of the island is known as a rapids island. The Lachine Canal, not far from the northwest, was built in the early years to avoid the smooth navigation of the rapids. Every summer, Montreal's Fishing Festival is held on Torrential Island, which is also a federal reserve for migratory birds. 225 species of birds, 66 species of fish, as well as amphibians, reptiles, mammals and rare plants all live here, so the park is a very important ecological protection area.
