Actually, it is an extinct volcano with a history of 30,000 years. It was named after a tree on the top of the mountain. When the tree died, the local people called the park None Tree Hill. Later on, the whole people discussed whether to plant another tree on the mountain. To commemorate the founder of Auckland, Salogan Kenbel, built a monument on the top of the hill and became the landmark of Auckland.
