Old Parliament Building Review

It used to be the city center of Colombo, and now it is. Behind it is the Castle District. Many banks and airlines work in the back building. In front of it is the Indian Ocean. The scenery is very beautiful.

Sri Lanka has many buildings left over from British colonial rule. The Old Parliament Building is one of them. It is backed by the landmark of Colombo, the Twin Towers Tower, facing the Indian Ocean. The Garfield Green Square is in front of the door. It is guarded by soldiers with live ammunition and is not allowed to visit. In the evening, many people go for a walk and watch the sunset on the sea in Galerphis Green Square. There is a flag-raising platform in the middle of the square. There is a flag-lowering ceremony for the Navy at 6 p.m. every night.

The Old Parliament Building is a new Baroque style building built in the period of British colonial rule. The building faces the Indian Ocean. When the building of the Parliament Building (then known as the Legislative Council Building) was built, Mr. Sir Henry McCallum, then Governor of the British Ceylon Colonial Government, put forward the bold idea of reclamation in the northern part of California. At the same time, in order to facilitate the communication between the various departments of the colonial government, in addition to the Legislative Council, several colonial government agencies also worked in the skirt building attached to the building until Sri Lanka officially declared its independence on February 4, 1948 and became an autonomous territory of the Commonwealth, which was designated Ceylon. On May 22, 1972, Ceylon was officially renamed Sri Lanka.
