If you want to see Dutch monkeys and fireflies in the evening and dusk, and also enjoy snorkeling near the island of Sabah during the day, taking a cruise at Kawa-Kawa in Kota Belud is more accurate. You can see Dutch monkeys and also fireflies on the banks of the river.

Kawa Kawa, located about 112km northeast of Kota Kinabalu, is accessible in an hour and a half by land. Situated at Kota Belud and surrounded by paddy fields and mangrove forests, the quaint little village of Kawa Kawa is enchanting at first sight. Sungai Tempasuk thrives along Kawa Kawa’s mangrove habitat forming an enticing playground for the Proboscis Monkeys, who swing on the high branches of the trees.
Kawa Mangrove has a lot of fireflies and monkeys. A brother on the same boat instantly gets new skills to attract fireflies. The water quality and the surrounding forests look like Panya Bay on Phuket Island. Fireflies embellish trees with silver flowers, bright lights, fantastic scenes, like childhood fairy tale world, unfortunately, photos can not take that kind of effect only when you are in the scene can feel it.
