Once one actually reaches the park, it is quite nice, with small, rolling green hills. The waterfront consists of large stones that lead down to the water, so it is not an actual beach. Even on a Sunday afternoon, it was not that crowded.

Nice place indeed! Attended an event here thrown by manager of Gogobot Honolulu. Friends, food and the location was perfect. A nice fireworks can be seen not far from the event.
It's a bit tough for me to recommend this park knowing that it's just up the road from my favorite beach on Oahu: Ala Moana Beach Park. So, let me suggest this park as an alternative to Ala Moana that is worth checking out if you aren't worried about not having a sandy beach to lay on. Yes, the Kakaako Waterfront Park is near the ocean, but the beach is replaced by a rocky-breakwater. Still, there is a play area for kids, and fishing is popular from the shore here. Additionally, if you are a surfer, point panic is a short paddle out from here, and offers a quality south shore break. If you are near the Ala Moana Park/Mall area or are wandering around Ward Warehouse after a movie with nothing to do, consider checking out this scenic little park.
