Ellis Island is an island in the Hudson River at the mouth of the sea. The island is hundreds of meters upstream of the Statue of Liberty. There is a large building on the island, formerly the immigration checkpoint, now the immigration museum, which contains a large number of materials and objects. It is an excellent place for people to visit and scholars to study immigration history.
