There are one or two big temples in many historic cities in China, and the quiet temples like Kaiyuan Temple are rare in my mind. Kaiyuan Temple, located in the old Quanzhou city, is a typical quiet place in the bustle. The palaces in the temple are simple and unadorned. Passengers in twos and threes pray silently in front of Buddha statues. Kaiyuan Temple has a history of more than 1300 years, which can be said to witness the prosperity of Quanzhou City. The monastery's landmark buildings are the twin towers of the Southern Song Dynasty - "Zhenguo Pagoda" and "Renshou Pagoda". There are also sandalwood temples, the memorial hall of Master Hongyi and the exhibition hall of ancient ships. Tanyue Temple is very small, but it is worth visiting. There is a list of scholars from the Huang family of Ziyun. It is in memory of Huang Shougong, the great benefactor of Quanzhou in Tang Dynasty who donated his mulberry garden to build Kaiyuan Temple.


