The Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold) is where the gold and silver, extracted from the New World was brought to Spain and stored here at the Torre del Oro. At one time this 12th century tower was lined with gold tiles, but those disappeared a long time ago. If in Seville, you should go down to the shores of the Rio Guadalquivir, and visit the restored tower that is now home to the Museo Nautico.
