This is our family trip to Malaysia, and we have two elders and a baby with us. Considering the check-in time was 3 AM, we booked two days so we could enter early in the morning and rest. Honestly, when you’re traveling with family, you just do whatever is most convenient as long as it’s affordable. The apartment has a great location—literally 15–18 minutes from the airport. All the food spots and supermarkets are within walking distance. It’s just an all-around great package for a first-time visitor to the city.
It was easy to sign in at security and get access to the apartment. The elevator is a bit slow because there are many residents in the building, but it’s acceptable. Once we entered the room, the AC was already on—what a breeze to welcome us on arrival. The room was clean, everything tidy. There were even clear instructions in the shower on how to use the water heater, which made things a lot easier. My in-laws took a nice hot shower after a 3-hour flight delay, and it was such a relief.
Later in the day—maybe because of the red-eye flight and the massive delay—the fatigue kicked in. Plus, we’re not used to the humid and hot Malaysian weather. My father-in-law started having a fever. I had Tylenol and other medicines ready in the bag, but we clearly needed a plan B.
I reached out to the owner immediately. My father-in-law was feeling cold even after the fever subsided. The owner contacted his friend in the same building right away and got us an extra blanket.
Plan B was to cancel our driving trip to Mount Kinabalu the next day. Since my father-in-law was sick, having him in the car for a 2–3 hour drive wouldn’t help his rest. And if things got worse while we were up in the mountains, he wouldn’t get the medical attention he needed in the middle of nowhere. It was better to cancel and stay in the city. So naturally, if we could extend the room and let him rest another day, he might recover enough for us to continue the rest of the trip.
Unfortunately, the room was already booked for the next day. The owner told us we could book another room and he’d try to let us check in earlier to make the transition easier.
After we booked the new room, I believe he made some arrangements behind the scenes. He later texted us saying we could stay in the same room tomorrow—no room change needed.
I’m really thankful to such an understanding owner, someone who genuinely cares and makes the effort to help a random visitor like me. I told him I’d write down this positive experience to share with others. Hopefully, it brings him more business.
Very nice and clean environment!
My vacation was to celebrate my anniversary, and I mentioned it in my booking remarks. I honestly didn’t expect any special arrangement or surprise from the hotel, but they went above and beyond! Every staff member knew it was our anniversary and wished us warmly — from the Sky Bar to the dining area and even room service. We felt truly welcomed and appreciated. Excellent service and hospitality
The room was booked under my brothers name for his honeymoon since hes a newlyweds with a request for honeymoon decoration. However, upon arrival, the room had no decoration prepared.
If the hotel was unable to fulfil the request, the minimum expectation was to inform me in advance through email or any form of notice. No communication was given, which reflects a lack of attention to guest requests and caused unnecessary disappointment.
The hotel was near the airport and very convenient with restaurants around and a shopping mall. It has a bit of a smell in the corridor as it was an open space when you walk to the elevator as the hotel was close to the water stream. The checking in and checking out were fast. The lobby was beautiful and cozy. The room was spacious and the bed and pillows were super comfy. The shower gel and shampoo bottle were a bit broken but the product they use is good as it was a local product. We were there for a quick one might stop before our flight to Sandakan. Overall, the hotel does provide a nice room for the guests.
Had a pleasant stay for a short business trip. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Amenities were complete, especially the gym which was convenient and clean. Location is also strategic with easy access to nearby restaurants and conveniences. Overall, a comfortable and hassle-free experience. Would definitely consider staying here again for future work trips.
Check in staff very obliging. Our room 808 filled our 3 days of scenic mornings sipping tea the best way to start our day. The bfast variety simply the most fulfilling to stomach with specialities live station dosa paraathas! This is our 4th or 5th visit stay & *surely will come again* during our Inter-Club Event next year.
ผผู้ใช้ไม่ระบุชื่อBooked for romantic tent, same like the ad. Looks like a brand new tent, because the colour is still white compared to the others which is already yellowish and got a bit mould. Romantic tent have no shade, so the light shines through into the tent. Even so, the tent doesn't feel hot, the portable aircond keeps it cool inside. asked for keetle from the receptionist. need to ask for keys for private bathroom as they are having renovation during our stay.
ผผู้ใช้ไม่ระบุชื่อthe location is very strategic..food n mall are on walking distant. The room is really small..only fit for queen bed..pemanas air dan iron is upon request...tp ada water dispenser d setiap floor. In the morning, surrounding is very noisy..dengan renovation in progress, alarm dr kedai sebelah and even jiran bilik sebelah yg buka tutup pintu tanpa henti...other than that, location hotel mmg tgh2 bandar..

LLimThe only reason I stayed here was because of it location near to the airport. Everything else is good in terms of experience except I was imposed with liability costing RM10 for soiling one piece of their towel. The soiling happened because I walked outside after the rain and my foot got into a mud spot. I came back to my room and I accidentally stepped on the towel. Bear in mind, I had to book their largest room meant for 4 pax because that was the only one available even though I stayed alone. Considering the occupancy is low for that large room, soiling one piece of towel does not justify a RM10 liability damage.
ผผู้เข้าพัก*Honest Review: Comfortable Stay but Disappointing Service Transparency*
Me and a group of colleagues chose Wendu Inn during our recent work trip to Kota Belud, and I’d like to share an honest review—not just a general star rating—because the experience was a mix of excellent and disappointing aspects.
Pros: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
• The check-in process was smooth and efficient.
• Cleanliness and room comfort are top-notch—definitely 5-star worthy, especially for a small town like Kota Belud.
• The view from the café and the convenience of having a minimart downstairs were truly added bonuses.
• We genuinely appreciated the effort put into making the place cozy and welcoming.
But here comes the downside:
We booked our rooms with breakfast included, which is supposed to be served at their café. However, this was where things went wrong.
1️⃣ When we went for breakfast, there was no proper display or explanation about the free breakfast options. What was openly displayed was a menu with both breakfast (no prices shown) and lunch items (with prices).
The actual complimentary breakfast choices were hidden away in a folder behind the counter—not visible to guests. Naturally, thinking the displayed breakfast options were part of our package, we made our choices and presented our coupons at the counter. The staff accepted the coupons without saying a word. Only after finishing our meals were we surprised with a bill, leaving us feeling misled and frustrated.
2️⃣ The counter staff’s customer service was below expectations.
When we requested an official receipt for work claims, we were repeatedly told to refer to the booking website. Even after explaining that we needed an original stamped receipt, the answer was simply: “We don’t have an original stamp.”
For a hotel catering to business travelers, this lack of basic documentation support is quite inconvenient.
Final thoughts:
Would I recommend Wendu Inn? Yes—for comfort, cleanliness, and its peaceful surroundings.
But be prepared to double-check details around your package (especially meals), and don’t expect much assistance from the front desk when it comes to paperwork or clarifications.
