With a couple of friends, we stayed at the President Hotel in October for a total of 3 nights, the hotel in itself was a major success, despite being quite low key online. The neighborhood it's located in is very secure and calm, Zamalek overall is a nice part of the city, with many places to visit, and cute hidden gems. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and well-maintained; and the room-service was excellent. If there was one thing to be brought up as a downside, it would definitely be the Pyramids tour we had the misfortune of going through with the agency they work with. However, after having reported the horrendous experience we went through to the reception, our complaint was taken seriously immediately and the hotel managed a partial 45% refund of the money paid and apologized continuously for the inconvenience; kudos to Ahmad at the reception.

MMr JdIt was a very pleasant stay. It's very small place on forth floor for 200 years old building. Arhitecture is astonishing for those ones who appreciates old, high ceiling buildings. Breakfast was very tasty and stuff is highly pleasant, friendly and helpful. Place is very clean and tidy. However room was very small and bathroom was so tiny, plus weight person won't be able to use it. Overall great stay, great location and experience.
KKimbriniTahir Plaza is a very unusual budget hotel. Dora and Marcelino go waaay beyond what you might expect from a budget place and their genuine kindness and desire to please is reflected in the tours they arrange with guide Ashour (who we used). The rooms are divided over two floors, the second and fourth. We had Amun room on the fourth floor which was MASSIVE and had a balcony. It was scrupulously clean - I spotted them ironing the bedsheets whilst they were already on the bed which I’d attention to detail isn’t it! The building itself (away from hotel area) would be a kindness to call shabby and doesn’t form a great opinion when first arriving at the building. The hotel rooms are clean, high ceilinged and beautiful though and offer real value for money. We spent the money we saved by staying here on private tours arranged by the hotel - omg you must try them! Go to Wadi Al Hitan desert and see fossilised whales in the sand, have breakfast in the middle of the desert with fossilised sea shells shimmering around you (30 million years ago, the desert was the bottom of the sea). Ishmael the Bedouin will zoom the 4 wheel drive up and down sand dunes whilst blasting out Arabic trance style music….later, swim in magic lake! Thats all one trip! We had the best time ever at Tahir plaza thank you Dora and Marcelino!
ผผู้เข้าพักThis ”hotel” is a scam. It is a room in an empty derelict building. The front entrance is wide open. There is no reception or security. It is not a hotel although comes up in a search for a hotel. I was fooled by the name ”Cairo Dream Boutique Hotel”. It is a nightmare. There was a poor looking guy sitting on a chair outside the building. By western standards, this place was worse than scary. I booked this accommodation on ******* and all nights needed to be paid up front (unusual). I arrived late at night. A guy in an old dirty car picked me up at the airport and he was the ”hotel transfer”. That was the first red flag. He was parked at least a 10 minute walk from the airport. On the way to the address, driver wanted to stop the car for gas . . . I was asked if I would like some food in my room. They would arrange for something to be delivered. By now I was starting to get worried and asking if it was a real hotel. I did not get a straight answer. When we arrived it was off the main area of traffic in a dark street. The door to the building was wide open. There was no one around. The building sounded empty and hollow. Curious and trying to not base everything on western standards, I went to the room. Then when we got to the floor still no one around. The hallway was dark. The driver opened the door of the room. It was also dark with a dim bulb lit. I saw two beds but it was so dark I could barely make out what was in the room. I did not go in - I was afraid of being alone with driver and being raped in the room. The pictures on the ******* website are fake. They show beds with white linen and furniture. There was only two beds in the room next to the wall. Windows were wide open over the bed. The elevator did not work to go down and I ran down 7 flights of stairs with my bag. I could not get out of there fast enough. It was almost midnight and I just wanted to go back to the airport. The person who registered this site with ******* was fully paid for each night booked. When they were contacted by ******* they said that I did not ”check in” and therefore not eligible for a refund. Frightening experience and set the tone for the rest of my visit to Cairo. To be aware, and that there are no regulations. People can fool authorities and be certified to list with fake pictures of an accommodation. I am a seasoned traveler and have traveled through the middle east a lot - this location was the worst - an area I would not walk through - let alone stay in. I appreciate everyone needs to make a living, but the name of this accommodation and the website are completely misleading. A complete scam. I lost my trust in everything and everyone from that point including booking sites. Will be doing my research with regard to reviews and stick to a chain hotel for arrival. Then visually inspect a potential accommodation after arrival.
The location was great, but there isn't much else to recommend. The rooms weren't dirty and breakfast was great, but despite requesting a single larger bed upon making the reservation, we were given two twin size beds. One of the beds was broken to the point of being basically unusable. At one point, they cleaned our room and they put wet sheets on our bed. It took a lot of work to get dry sheets from the front desk, as they seemed completely uninterested in helping us, and then we had to remake our now wet bed. Not only that, I think someone smoked in our room while cleaning it. The lobby constantly smelled strongly of cheap perfume covering up cigarette smoke. And you won't be able to sleep in as there is a school that meets outside and children chanting and a drum beating to march them to school. The value is good for location and breakfast, but I wouldn't stay here again.
