Host Chen did an amazing job welcoming us to Xidi. She was responsive, friendly, and happy to accommodate us. She picked us up at the gate, helped settle an issue with payment for the Xidi entry ticket, and gave us a tour of Xidi. She took amazing pictures of us, she definitely knows where the best photoshoot spots are! She made us buns with fresh local bamboo shoots at check-in, it was delicious! They also prepared breakfast for us very early in the morning at our request, since we were leaving at 7:30am. We only stayed in Xidi for one night but we enjoyed our stay so much, we would like to come again, especially in Spring when the yellow canola flowers are in bloom. Definitely recommend staying here!

The room was clean and located very close to the entrance. The heating in the room was very strong. The toilet and bathroom were separate, which was convenient for guests. However, while the bathroom had an exhaust fan, the toilet did not, which would be much better.

A truly charming accommodation with a beautiful view over the village. The room was very spacious and perfectly equipped; there was even a small seating area where we enjoyed playing cards, as well as a bathtub. A small tip: you need to buy a ticket to enter the village in order to access the accommodation. There are also some nice local restaurants in the village. In the evening, there is a great fountain and water jet show. The only small downside was that there was never anyone at the reception, so we couldn’t ask a few questions. Despite this, we would definitely recommend this place.

This homestay was satisfactory. It was very well located in the old town and easy to find. However, there was no one at the front desk when I arrived or throughout the stay. I had to call and then wait for about 10 minutes before someone arrived. When the host arrived they seemed unsure about my reservation, was on call with someone else, and didn’t provide any service or information about the local area. A while after I entered the room there was a bad smell from the bathroom drain that remained for the rest of my stay. There was another bad smell in the morning of my 2nd day. I walked outside my room to find that an animal had pooped outside my door. Maybe a cat? It is unfortunate because this was a beautiful home and Hongcun is a stunning town, but it did not feel like the homestay was very well serviced or cleaned. I’m sure they can improve before the next stay!

The lady boss was quick to respond when we rang her for directions. Since Hongcun village is traffic free she came to meet us with a trolley to help us to carry our bags. It was so thoughtful of her! And her thoughtfulness extended beyond that. Our room was spotlessly clean with full amenities & we had a good night’s sleep. Our host provided us with pertinent information regarding the performances available. We managed to catch the tea dance so gracefully performed to lovely music. To our regret it was drizzling that night so the night performance was cancelled. Hongchun truly deserved its fame as one of the loveliest (if not the loveliest!) ancient towns in China. Our pleasure was further enhanced by the warm hospitality provided by the Qingyou Bieyuan Inn. Indeed when we left the lady boss presented us each with a bottle of freshly picked chrysanthemum flowers!

Beautiful house located in a quiet part of the ancient village. As you’ll read in many reviews, the host provides excellent service, and I felt like I was meeting a friend. He took me to and from the gate of the village to the house and helped me carry my luggage. He also helped me arrange a ride back to the train station - there were some issues and he took the time to sort it out with the drivers on my behalf, which was above and beyond. The host and I talked about traveling and I could tell he was someone who was genuine and wanted to be as helpful as possible. The room is beautiful with huge windows and lots of thoughtful details. I had wonderful rests here while it was too hot outside. From the window you can see some rooftops of Hui architecture. The village isn’t big, so all the sights are nearby

The accommodation is at the beginning of the village entrance on the southern bridge. Get off the bus and walk straight in. Pay and turn left a little bit and you will arrive. 2. The host can help pick up and drop off from the bus station to the entrance. 3. The room is a good size, moderately wide, the bed is comfortable. 4. Facilities: towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hot water heater is warm.
