It's in a beautiful old building, very well preserved and refurbished, and in a great location: in the Xidi old town, but a little bit more isolated, in the more quiet and less touristy area. Our room was spacious, comfortable and very stylish, it even had a tiny annexed studio room with desk and interesting books with a good kettle and tea set available. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had a very nice bathtub and heated toilet. Our host was super nice and helpful, he came to pick us up and dropped us at the bus station at the end of our stay. He's really friendly and gave us some nice tips on visiting the surrounding villages. He has a very cute dog and a cuddly cat :)
Only negative comment: the room's window is on the side of the main road, so you can hear all the cars passing by. But even then, a great stay!

ผผู้เข้าพักMy family and I (5 of us) recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming homestay in Hongcun for two days and one night, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building, steeped in history at 400 years old, is located relatively close to the West entrance, making access a breeze. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and well-kept. Although I initially booked three specific rooms, they were unavailable due to renovation. However, I was provided with three other rooms that turned out to be more spacious, which was a delightful surprise.
The lobby felt incredibly welcoming, with a cozy living-room-style atmosphere. There’s a lovely café to the left and a souvenir shop to the right, adding a nice touch of convenience and charm as you walk toward the living area. Wan Jie (elder sister Wan), the host, was truly hospitable and attentive. Her warmth shone through from our first phone call, which she answered cheerfully while helping arrange our pickup, as cars aren’t allowed into Hongcun, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
One of the highlights of this homestay was the restaurant nestled in a ”secret” garden—a serene and picturesque spot where my family and I could have happily spent more time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, adding to the overall experience. Though it was too cool to use during my visit, the homestay also features a pool that would be perfect for summer days.
At the end of our stay, Wan Jie went above and beyond by accompanying us to the village exit to wait for our driver, ensuring everything went smoothly before saying her goodbyes. It’s rare to experience such personalized hospitality, and it made a memorable impression on us.
Based on my positive experience, I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Hongcun. It’s a unique blend of history, comfort, and genuine hospitality that truly enhances the visit.

The views from the rooms ~ and the bathtubs ~ are stunning, and the silence is just wonderful. We enjoyed our stay to the maximum. We can highly recommend this beautiful resort to any traveler, from China and abroad, who is searching for peace and tranquillity. For the ones interested in arts and culture, there are opportunities to paint, play music or learn Chess. We would love to come back one day!

SSteveDOverall, I really enjoyed the stay at this hotel. It is very charming, and suits the Hongcun setting so well. The decor is traditional Chinese and so lovely. The staff is wonderful and attentive. The bed is comfortable. The common areas are plentiful. Lovely courtyard outside the room. I am happy with my choice! I would stay here again. The room rate for this hotel is a bit higher than I would expect. Some reasons for this are the pool is not in usable condition, the bathroom is downstairs from the bedroom. The stairs are very steep and a bit precarious to climb and descend. There is no laundry service and not an easy way to do one’s own laundry. All in all I am pleased with my stay at Zhang Mansion.

ผผู้เข้าพักThe Inn is located inside the Scenic area, the room is clean but relatively small especially the bathroom. The soundproofing is poor as you can hear clearly what’s happening at the next room. The common area at the ground floor is a bit messy. Quite dark at night.
The only plus point is the Inn is located inside the Scenic area.
Actually the Inn’s location is a bit difficult for a traveler to find, if the owner hadn’t come out to fetch me, I wouldn’t have been able to find the Inn at all. Besides that, the pathway at the Scenic area is made of stone, full of potholes and quite dirty, thus it’d be a nightmare to pull a luggage all the way from the bus station to the Inn.
The Scenic area has become too commercial and super crowded, it is impossible to have a nice and quiet stroll to enjoy the scenery. The only time you can have a quiet walk is before 6am morning. I myself will definitely not coming back.
