The Bell Guesthouse

Lovely accommodation, friendly staff and amazing breakfast! The perfect location to stay after a day hunting for sea glass in Seaham on North and Vane Tempest beaches… For great restaurants, at an easy distance from The Bell, visit the chippy - Gills - or have some tapas at The Lamp Room on the seafront in Seaham (we ate at both on our two night stay)… Both are just over the road from the Tommy statue - which sits in a beautifully maintained and respectful garden, amongst benches and poppies marking thanks for our fallen heroes… We also had drinks to escape the drizzle in Londonderry’s pub and the Coalface in Seaham, super friendly pubs - very welcoming locals. Would love to go back one day, but given the old fella has just driven us back today won’t ask for a little while - bit of a trek from Kent but well worth it! Now after a 7hr drive home and two days doing the ‘Zombie’ stoop on the beach searching for glass, I’m going to lay on the floor and straighten myself out…cheers Seaham for a fab weekend!

A really lovely quiet hotel, there arent many in the area. All very clean, lovely bedroom and superb breakfast with a friendly smile. Checkin was smooth and the lady was really friendly and showed me to my room and also served me a few well poured guinness later that evening. Thank you i will certainly stay again. They didn't serve an evening meal but plenty of options not too far away.

What a lovely place to stay. Hosts were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, as were other staff members. The room was lovely, comfortable and clean. Tea making facilities and a hairdryer in the room. Breakfast was tasty too. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Top class place to stay - On arrival we were made so welcome by Kim - She was very friendly, the room was very clean, beds were very comfy- the people in the bar were very friendly- breakfast was top class; served by Inders - Inders gave us a good talk on the history of the area- the people of Horden are very friendly and good chat - We would definitely rate Bell Guest House very highly Grade A *********** Derry brothers from N Ireland

The welcome was great snd very efficient, the room clean with everything you could need. The staff were so warm and friendly, remembered my name and very helpful in recommending places to eat as I was on my own. Incredibly good value- highly recommended

Host and staff very welcoming nice small hotel I stayed in the court yard studio self contained with a big double bed Big TV on suit shower kitchen furnished to upto date style very comfortable breakfast was included with a variety of choices a great place as a base to come back to after a day of exploring

Combined birthday party 21st and 50th at the bell hotel great atmosphere and excellent staff the room was all decorated to a fantastic standard by the manager and everyone has a fab night well done to all involved getting the party started and the finished touches highly recommended for any partys just pop in or call up

I had a very friendly welcome, when walking in I was shown to my room, shown around and given advice about getting where I was going. It was good that I could let myself in the back when arriving late from a party. Managed to park on the street outside on arrival. The room had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Lovely welcome & very happy stay at The Bell. No hassle just left alone to enjoy your stay. Fabulous rooms. Breakfast is awesome & the staff really do go the extra mile. You are only 8 miles away from Seaham & Sunderland. We really enjoyed our stay & certainly will return.
