Modern house with amazing views of the mountains and fields. Amenities are luxurious and in the style of a muji hotel.
Clean and very comfortable.
Breakfast was filling and nutritious and the fresh milk was a real treat.
Ancient city a little far to walk 1km when cold but host provided transport to the ancient town.
Host both welcoming and generous with her time and suggestions. Memorable stay and town. We wish her every success. Thank you!!

YYunjiatanOur stay at Shuao Xunshan Yiye Rural Life Homestay was truly unforgettable. Nestled in a serene rural setting, it offers a perfect escape from the busy city, surrounded by nature and peaceful scenery.
The rooms are beautifully designed—simple yet elegant, very clean, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail reflects a thoughtful blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.
What stood out most was the warm hospitality. The hosts were genuinely welcoming and made the stay feel personal and special, always ready to help with anything we needed. The host will send you to ShaXi ancient town and fetch you back. One of the best ancient town we had visited during this trip.
If you’re looking for a quiet, authentic countryside experience with comfort and heart, this place is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!

AaLexxasI had an absolutely wonderful stay at Shaxi Guichen Boutique Homestay, and it easily exceeded expectations in many aspects.
First and foremost, the hospitality here truly stands out. The landlady was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. She went out of her way to introduce nearby attractions and local spots, which made exploring Shaxi much easier and more meaningful. She also helped us arrange an e-bike rental, which turned out to be one of the best ways to get around and discover the surrounding areas.
The room itself was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Cleanliness is clearly a top priority here, with many guests highlighting the same consistently high standards, often comparing it to much higher-end properties . The bed was cozy, and the overall environment made it very easy to relax and unwind after a day out.
The homestay has a very charming and quaint atmosphere, especially at night. The courtyard and surroundings give off a peaceful, almost storybook-like vibe that really adds to the overall experience. It’s located just a short distance from Shaxi Ancient Town, making it convenient while still being quiet and away from the crowds. Many reviews also mention the easy access to the old town and nearby attractions, whether by short ride or walk .
What I really appreciated is that Shaxi itself has so much to explore beyond just the main old town. From scenic countryside rides to hidden spots and cultural sites, there’s plenty to do if you’re willing to venture out—and this homestay is a great base for it.
Overall, this is a beautifully run boutique homestay with exceptional service, great comfort, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shaxi, and I would definitely return again.

BBob57We had an unforgettable stay here — by far the best hotel of our journey through China.
From the very beginning, the owner gave us the warmest welcome. The room was beautifully decorated with great taste, and we especially enjoyed the large balcony, perfectly arranged with two chairs, a table, and even a lounge bed.
The bathroom was extremely pleasant, modern and spotless, and even equipped with state-of-the-art Japanese toilets — a real luxury during our trip.
The owner went far beyond our expectations: she personally accompanied us on a walk through the forest to a truly picturesque village, providing fascinating explanations along the way. She also took care of our laundry, and when it came time to pay, she kindly told us that everything was included in the price of the room.
The breakfast was simply royal, with great variety and generous portions.
Throughout our stay, we were constantly surprised by the generosity of the service: all drinks (including bottled orange juice), as well as fruits, pastries, and other homemade treats she offered us, were completely free of charge.
This hotel is an absolute gem, and we recommend it wholeheartedly.

ผผู้เข้าพักWe had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Everything was perfect. The location is great as it is a short walk to the heart of the old town. There is vehicular access to the back door of the hotel so it was easy for luggage handling. It is also close to the Friday market. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. There was a welcome tea that included very quintessential Chinese teatime munchies. The staff were very welcoming and warm. They made sure our every need was well taken care of from the moment we arrived until our departure. We were first warmly greeted by the lovely ladies, 林妹妹 and 小妹妹 from Wuhan who helped to check on car booking for our tour. 小邱 greeted us every morning with warm cups of fragrant coffee. We had interesting conversation with him where we learnt a lot about Bai culture and Shaxi, including that the lane beside the hotel is part of the ancient Tea Horse Trail. 做饭张阿姨 made very tasty 饵块 noodles and she went out of her way to cater to our specific dietary request. All-in a very great experience for us.

JjessicazengA beautiful guesthouse with a lovely and serene inner courtyard and modern, renovated accommodations and facilities! Shaxi is not large, so from this guesthouse location, we were able to easily walk around the streets of Shaxi. Perfect location!
It's in the heart of the village, so from where our driver dropped us off (our previous guesthouse in Dali helped us arrange a carpool to Shaxi), we still had to walk around ~7-10 minutes. The streets of Shaxi are the cobblestone type, so it wasn't easy to bring our heavy luggage over (needed to carry it by hand, which was strenuous, tiring, and slow). To prepare, I had asked on trip.com messaging if there was anything to know before we got there and had even informed them about our arrival time ahead of time, but unfortunately didn't know this would be an issue - it would have been nice if they told us before and offered to help. But apparently you can tell the guesthouse if you do need help, and they can assist you with your luggage when you first arrive (they might have a luggage cart). When we left, the ladies helped us with our suitcases, which was definitely appreciated. Additionally, the staff helped arrange a carpool to Lijiang for the next day. Staff was nice in person.
The room is perfectly comfortable and clean, with a very modern and fancy bathroom. I found the beds quite comfortable; it was perfect for two. Though the room is on the first floor, it wasn't loud or noisy. The breakfast was also surprisingly really nice (we opted for sandwiches and some noodles, I think I picked er si), including fruit, corn, and sweet potato. Got served a beautiful latte with refined latte art too. We really liked just sitting around in the courtyard too after walking around the village; the way they've designed it is so tranquil and relaxing, perfectly fitting with the ambiance of Shaxi. There was also a friendly cat (apparently not owned by the guesthouse, but the cat likes visiting often) roaming around.
Note: Even though this review in English, we spoke to the staff in Chinese. It seems other foreign guests have stayed here before too though! Overall, would recommend!

HhanjhanjhanjWhat an incredible experience staying here! You will be hosted by a very sweet local couple. They have renovated their house into a beautiful homestay operating since early 2026.
We decided on this place for the Shaxi stop to experience the tranquility (it's about 15-20 mins walk, slightly distant from the Shaxi ancient town) and local experience. This place has exceeded our expectations due to the incredible warmth we received. You feel like a family guest rather than a homestay customer, which is especially unique and memorable.
A lot of the tradition and originality are featured in your room and it's surroundings, in addition to modern flavours. The room is not huge but every aspect from its design, materials, attention to detail, cleanliness (sparkling clean), and amenities are top notch. Special mention to the extremely comfortable mattress, pillows and linen which afforded us a really good night's rest. We also love the tea set with freshly plucked fruits over a beautiful floor to ceiling glass view. Bathroom also comes with flush sensor as well as ceiling heater for shower.
Take note the place is located inside the plantation and housing area but accessible by car and bike. The host also offers a complimentary ride to the Shaxi ancient town, as well as hearty local breakfast. Go ahead and have a chat with them over tea!
Our Yunnan trip has not ended but certainly this would be our favourite stay above all. We would love to return again
