Very well located and very comfortable hotel. Receptionist Ninno was very helpful with car rental and a day trip to Annecy and Ninno is a very cheerfull person. Everything was perfect.
JJames AllenLyon is a city of stairs and hills, and this hostel is near the top of one, 15 minutes from any metro stop on foot. Lyon is a city for walking, though.
The shared kitchen was nice, but often very crowded, especially around dinner time. The capsule beds in the dormitory were fine, comfortable and quiet. My locker's door didn't quite work, so I had to stow my valuables with the front desk during the day.
Staff was young, pleasant, and helpful.
While most of the guests were backpackers, there was a minority of older travelers, often staying in rooms.
ผผู้เข้าพักI rarely leave negative reviews, but this booking was very disappointing and quite uncomfortable. Although the location was good and the room was clean, we did not look forward to returning to the hotel each night and I would not consider staying here again. The room felt dark and claustrophobic and did not even have drawers big enough to put clothes in. For those wanting to work at the little desk, the chair and limited electricity outlets would have made it very difficult. Although we chose not to have the breakfast, the patio seemed nice. The lobby barely had space to stand in. Although I have learned that the French star system is quite basic, note that in many parts of the world, this would never be considered a four star hotel.
ผผู้เข้าพักWe stayed at a double room in the Sofitel in Lyon for a total of 3 nights in the summer of 2023.
The hotel is located just a few streets from the Place Bellecour which is one of the main squares in Lyon. It is also about 5 minutes away from many cafes, bistros and a large supermarket (Monop’) near Place Bellecour.
The room itself was a fairly standard double room (approximately 20 square metres). The interior and furnishings of the hotel look a bit dated but they were fine and did not matter in any material way. The minibar is complimentary and it is restocked daily with bottled water (still and sparkling), fruit juice, coca cola, and dried fruits and nuts.
The bed was nice and comfortable and the pillows were firm. Our only complaint was that the air conditioning was not very consistent and it would turn off in the middle of the night. It is not an issue if you are staying here in the winter but it made it difficult to sleep at night in the summer.
The staff were all very nice and pleasant. The concierge was especially friendly and he helped us to store our bags and arrange for a taxi to the train station on our last day.
We paid approximately EUR250 a night and we thought it was worth the price.
AAudrey Claire GenevieveThe experience is not bad but not what I would expect from a 4 stars hotel. People working in the hotel are very nice, which is a big +. However, the cleanliness is so so in the room. There was a night I didn’t have hot water for shower for some reason. The breakfast is okay but I believe 17€ is a bit overpriced for what it is. Very nice service from the ladies there though. The gym isn’t a gym, it has no dumbbells, only one or two cardio machine and a musculation machine supposed to do everything but not very great. I would still recommend it, just don’t expect a 4 stars hotel as you would imagine it.
ผผู้เข้าพักGreat location, 5min walk to the station, there’s a nice restaurant next door as well as a small shop to buy any last minute toiletries or snacks and drinks.
The room itself was good, small bathroom but the beds were comfy and it just does the job.
Would stay again if I visit Lyon again.
