After reserving, I received a courtesy call from the hotel, and we then connected on WeChat since I don’t speak Chinese. The hotel introduced me to Long, the housekeeper, who coordinated our entire stay with great care and attention. Before our arrival, they asked if we had any special requests. As my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary, I asked them to decorate the room with flowers—and they did a beautiful job. They also asked about our dinner and breakfast preferences and were impressively organized in their preparations. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, but our taxi had trouble locating the hotel. I called Long, and he immediately came out to meet us—a huge help! When we checked in, they welcomed us with refreshments and even surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade. The room had a bathtub, which our three-year-old son especially loved. To our delight, they had thoughtfully prepared a child’s hygiene kit for him, including kid-friendly soap, shampoo, and a dental kit. We also received a handwritten note, a fresh fruit bowl, and a lovely bouquet of flowers. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, spotless, and very tastefully decorated. There’s a small indoor play area for children, including a slide, tent, and games—our son played there every day. We also enjoyed strolling around the grounds and spending time at the scenic swimming pool, which is nestled in the mountains. The food was another highlight: we had a delicious Chinese dinner and a traditional Chinese breakfast, both full of flavor. Throughout our stay, Long was incredibly helpful and made our trip truly special. Thank you, Long! I highly recommend Lost Villa. Location: Strategically located in the heart of Ningbo, the hotel is just a stone’s throw away from Cheng Huang Night Market, the pedestrian street, shopping malls, and many popular restaurants. Super convenient for exploring the city. Staff: Check-in was pleasant and smooth, with friendly and warm staff at reception. They were very helpful in giving us navigation tips around the area. The team even went the extra mile to make our wedding anniversary special. A big thank you to Ms. Lu (吕小姐) for her thoughtful service! Amenities: The self-laundry area and gym are tucked away in a corner, so they’re convenient to use without disturbing guests. Room: Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. It feels like the hotel has been newly renovated. The environment is comfortable and well-maintained. Breakfast: The breakfast spread is good and offers enough variety if you prefer to dine in the hotel. Note: During winter, the hotel uses a centralised air-conditioning system, which means the rooms are set to heating mode. There are rooms with and without windows, so do consider your preference. We had the most wonderful stay at Qixia Shanju Hotel. As international travelers, we were truly touched by how warmly and kindly we were treated from the very first moment. The hospitality here is exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and cared for. They prepared a fire for us, brought us warm milk, and even shared food with us at times. These thoughtful gestures meant so much to us, especially being far from home. Their kindness felt genuine and heartfelt. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The environment is peaceful, clean, and very quiet — perfect for relaxing. It is located right by the water streams, which makes the atmosphere even more calming and special. Waking up to such natural surroundings was truly refreshing. This was more than just a stay; it felt like being welcomed by family. We are so grateful for the warmth, generosity, and care we experienced here. I had a great time staying at this hotel. The location is very convenient—it’s close to a mall, a museum, and many different restaurants. Getting to restaurants and shopping areas is quick and easy, and I also appreciated being able to order items and have them delivered directly to my room. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options. The food was well prepared, and I really enjoyed it. The hospitality stood out the most—the staff were friendly, polite, helpful, and very welcoming throughout my stay. My room was a good size, clean, and comfortable. The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, and I liked the layout with different buildings (Block A and Block B). I stayed in Block B. The only minor issues were related to construction next to the hotel, which caused some noise. However, the hotel handled this very thoughtfully by providing a notice, along with eye masks and earplugs, which I truly appreciated. Another small inconvenience was that my room was very far from the elevator, requiring a long walk through the hallway. It would be helpful if there were an additional elevator or easier access to the far end of the building. Overall, this was a wonderful stay, and despite the small inconveniences, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.

The staff was so friendly, helpful, and able to speak some English or use their translation app. The views and rooms were a lovely escape from the city. The food was spectacular- just remember you need to schedule the time and food you will eat beforehand for each day. We also went to the nearby city Xikou which is 30 minutes by car if you want to explore the temples and cafes. The staff can help book cars for any nearby travels. 100% will stay here again!

We had a really excellent stay at the Crowne Plaza. We were upgraded to a family room which was very spacious and perfect for our needs (traveling with two young children). The facilities (especially all of the child-friendly amenities) were great - a huge play area for the kids, lego area, cinema room, crafts, and arcade. My son loved the go-carts on the rooftop. The view and location of this hotel is spectacular - right on the water. We'd love to come back in the summer and enjoy the outdoor pool. My husband is vegetarian (no fish or meat) and there were tons of options for him at the buffet - I was unsure of this when booking, but honestly there were so many excellent and diverse options for him. We'd say one of the best buffets in terms of vegetarian options we've experienced in China. For the rest of us, who could enjoy the seafood - this was also incredible.

With professionalism and attention to detail, she introduced the hotel’s amenities and kindly recommended an upgrade to the Lakeside Suite—a decision that immersed us in a dreamlike Jiangnan experience far beyond our expectations. The Lakeside Suite framed Dongqian Lake like a living ink-wash painting. Each morning, we opened the floor-to-ceiling windows to mist-kissed waters resembling a classical scroll; by dusk, the lake shimmered in amber hues under the setting sun, dotted with distant sailboats. Inside, the suite masterfully balanced traditional Chinese aesthetics with contemporary comfort—exquisitely carved screens divided the tranquil living space, embroidered cushions complemented modern art pieces, and the freestanding bathtub by the window created the illusion of floating above the lake. The smart bedside control system, allowing us to adjust lighting and curtains with a touch, harmonized technology with timeless elegance. May’s service was nothing short of impeccable. Noticing our preference for quiet mornings, she proactively adjusted housekeeping schedules. When we expressed interest in local flavors, she not only recommended authentic Ningbo restaurants but also hand-drew a map of nearby attractions. These thoughtful, personalized touches transformed a routine stay into a heartfelt experience. At checkout, a carefully prepared gift and a handwritten note from May added the perfect sentimental farewell. We never felt like a burden, which we truly appreciated. The location itself is beautiful. We did some lovely walks in the nearby area, but honestly we were just as happy sitting out on our patio, soaking in the trees and the peace. We brought our own BBQ, and the team was really flexible in helping us find a great spot to set it up. It was exactly the nature escape we needed — a perfect break from city life. If you're a foreign traveller wondering whether you'll feel comfortable here, the answer is absolutely yes. We felt so welcome.
