皮皮蛋_001Small boutique hotel ran by a very friendly woman and man. The 古镇 itself is very quiet and the surrounding town doesn't have much going on. Everyone is in bed by 10. Perfect if you're looking for a quiet couple days, but definitely worth mentioning!
There is an amazing trail system all around Ninghai and the hostess can give you many excellent hiking recommendations. She's local to the area and (as far as I understood) the property which is now the hotel belonged to her family at the beginning of the 20th century. There's even a good bit of original furniture around.
The guest rooms are clearly brand new and exceptionally clean. If you are sensitive to odors, you might ask them to remove some of the wormwood (艾草) from your room ahead of time. Two bags of it are hung in every room. I happen to like it but I could imagine some might find it too strong.
The hostess speaks some English and works very hard to accommodate everyone. She even fed us dinner when we arrived too late to eat in the town.
Overall very nice, we'll definitely stay here again if we go to Ninghai.

He not only provided lovely hospitality, he also cared for our needs throughout our stay! The room was huge with sea-view balcony, adding sweetness to our stay. MUST DO: Check out the hotel outdoor and indoor swimming pool, plus a visit to the 131 Warship.
The restaurant on the 1st floor, Cape No. 1, also sell fresh seafood. We had nice dinner plus room service from the Ocean restaurant. Highly recommended! Nice view absolutely. Overall, we'll come back. 😁

The best part of the resort was the staff. Everyone was so helpful. I do not speak Chinese but we were able to communicate via WeChat very easily. The staff really went above and beyond to make my experience comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very good. I ordered my meals a day in advance and the staff sent me a message when my food was prepared. I enjoyed the pool that is filled with cold mountain water. I did some hiking starting at the resort and really enjoyed the mountain scenery. Unfortunately the tub did not work in my room and there was a lot of mold in the shower but I think that is unavoidable in this humid climate. At the end of my stay the staff was about to help me arrange a driver to Xeudou Temple and Zhongcun Scenic area. I highly recommend this place for a relaxed, stress free getaway. One note, there are a lot of stairs (193 to my room) to get to the cabins so anyone with mobility issues will need to be sure to reserve a room they can reach. Again, ***** for the staff. Super.

This luxurious sanctuary, transformed from an ancient Jiangnan water village, seamlessly blends traditional architectural elegance with modern sophistication. Upon arrival, May, the Front Office Manager, greeted us with a warm smile that instantly melted away our travel fatigue. With professionalism and attention to detail, she introduced the hotel’s amenities and kindly recommended an upgrade to the Lakeside Suite—a decision that immersed us in a dreamlike Jiangnan experience far beyond our expectations.
The Lakeside Suite framed Dongqian Lake like a living ink-wash painting. Each morning, we opened the floor-to-ceiling windows to mist-kissed waters resembling a classical scroll; by dusk, the lake shimmered in amber hues under the setting sun, dotted with distant sailboats. Inside, the suite masterfully balanced traditional Chinese aesthetics with contemporary comfort—exquisitely carved screens divided the tranquil living space, embroidered cushions complemented modern art pieces, and the freestanding bathtub by the window created the illusion of floating above the lake. The smart bedside control system, allowing us to adjust lighting and curtains with a touch, harmonized technology with timeless elegance.
May’s service was nothing short of impeccable. Noticing our preference for quiet mornings, she proactively adjusted housekeeping schedules. When we expressed interest in local flavors, she not only recommended authentic Ningbo restaurants but also hand-drew a map of nearby attractions. These thoughtful, personalized touches transformed a routine stay into a heartfelt experience. At checkout, a carefully prepared gift and a handwritten note from May added the perfect sentimental farewell.
Park Hyatt Ningbo redefines luxury through details—not in opulent extravagance, but in the artful fusion of cultural heritage, intuitive service, and refined design. ⭐️ A magical treehouse escape — incredibly welcoming to international guests
We stayed in the Starry Dome Suite and it honestly exceeded our expectations — even better than the photos. The room is spread across multiple levels, with three private patios nestled below the dome itself, giving it the feel of our very own luxury treehouse. The fun electric trapdoor entrance into the dome was a highlight, and having a private bathroom tucked into the setup made the stay comfortable as well as adventurous.
What really made our stay special, though, was the staff. As international guests who speak very little Chinese, we were so touched by how accommodating and friendly everyone was. They went out of their way to communicate with us via WeChat, patiently using translation software to make sure we had everything we needed — from local tips to the little details that made our stay seamless. We never felt like a burden, which we truly appreciated.
The location itself is beautiful. We did some lovely walks in the nearby area, but honestly we were just as happy sitting out on our patio, soaking in the trees and the peace. We brought our own BBQ, and the team was really flexible in helping us find a great spot to set it up. It was exactly the nature escape we needed — a perfect break from city life. If you're a foreign traveller wondering whether you'll feel comfortable here, the answer is absolutely yes. We felt so welcome.
