The National Monument of Scotland stands tall over Edinburgh. For many that make the walk up Calton Hill it's purely for the views (and they are spectacular!). But once you're up there you really should take the time to wander around this epic monument, reminiscent of Roman days gone by!

The National Monument of Scotland was meant to be much more imposing and grand. Unfortunately, mid-construction the money ran out and attentions were turned elsewhere. It has a sort of eerie feeling as it echoes the many ruins you can find in the surrounding towns.
