I appreciate the room upgrade given by the hotel staff. That's just smart business.
I like the location of the hotel, a few steps away from bus stop #9 , with windows watching for tour buses from the comfort indoors. And it's also close to shops and restaurants.
The rooms are clean and modern and the breakfast is pretty good.
In case of really bad weather (like during one day of my stay), you can just eat at the on-site restaurant which serves good food.
We were really happy with our stay at this hotel.
The room size and the beds comfortable. The location was quiet and was perfect for us to walk around the main areas. Location was also great for the buses.
Breakfast was fantastic.
Would definitely stay here again.
Although we booked a double room, we were given a room with twin beds at level 4 upon check-in. The heating rack in the bathroom was unserviceable, hence showering was an uncomfortable experience due to the cold temperature (it was 0 degree C outside). As we were staying for 2 nights, I left a note at reception in the morning of the 2nd day to request the heating system to be serviced. When we enquired about this defect upon returning in the evening, we were told this was a known problem, affecting the entire level 4. It was disappointing that the service staff did not advice us at check-in and offer any alternatives. No apologies were extended.
I can absolutely sympathise with people who struggle to get in and check in to this hotel.
When you book through a 3rd party app, you do not receive your room number or entry code. The check-in process is then an adventure of trying to shout into a tablet near the front door, for a call that lasts maximum 2 minutes before it disconnects and you have to try again.
The layout is… odd… to say the least, but if you follow the signs you can eventually end up at your room (if you find some of the doors that work, not all do).
The maintenance person who broke into our room while we were out forgot to lock the door, so we were at risk of all of our things being stolen, which wasn’t ideal.
The room itself was nice, location is good and as long as you don’t need anything, you are getting what you pay for.
ผผู้เข้าพักdark and full of thieves. MAYBE DONT KEEP ANYTHING IN THE REFRIGERATOR. not sure how my things got stolen as they were packed in the back and not visible. was it the cleaning staff checking every item and label? did they decide to take it? was it a traveler, and because there's no CCTV they thought it'd be okay? i thought in iceland people would keep the cultural system of no crime. so this is a warning and also this experience (at the end of my stay) doesnt affect my overall opinion of the hostel (which i formed before having things stolen). the atmosphere is overly dreary and depressing. the most colorful thing is the mandatory rainbow flag that almost every business in the area seems to have on display (is it part of an extortion racket?). low light everywhere, even in the sleeping room when you need to be able to see and find things. the room had only one small window and only a tiny opening for fresh air outside. no air circulation or ability to adjust the room temperature. the room was cramped and the beds squeaked and creaked at the smallest movement. sheets were clean and no bugs were seen. so that is a plus! the interior and decor in the hostel is odd. it felt like a waiting room in the afterlife for people who led lives of honest vice and subversive transgression, or maybe it's best described as a purgatory for designers with perpetual Seasonal Affective Disorder. this probably suits most people interested in the general icelandic vibe, so it is appropriate. no ability to make a deposit for a lock for the lockers in the room. you must purchase an overpriced lock. finally there are no smiles on any workers who speak in monotone and seem bothered whenever you ask a question, as if they had been interrupted, as if it werent their job to assist customers, and as if i were dumb for asking a question.
ผผู้เข้าพักSuper quickly the confirmation email from the hotel, the directions and recommendations are clear and simple. The room was a decent side and it had a huge bathroom. Right now there are making some renovations in the property but during the sleeping hours everything is pretty calm and silent
AayanamisloverThe location of the hotel is a bit out of the way, but it was only used as a stopover so it didn't matter too much, and for travelling around Reykjavik we recommend booking another Hilton Curio Select hotel. Facilities in the room were fair and worthy of the Hilton name.
Aalexr1Nice apartments in a very convenient location. I have stayed in the main hotel before and was impressed so chose the apartments for my trip this time. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable as well.
The two bed apartment had plenty of space, very well furnished and warm. The kitchen had everything you would need (apart from a microwave though). There was a smart TV with all the streaming apps. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had soap and shower gel/shampoo.
There is limited parking for the apartments but I knew that beforehand (to be expected in city centre). There is 4 parking spaces out the back you can use but parking on the street is free from 9pm-9am.
Only downside is it was quite noisy which kept me up on Saturday night. Nothing they can control of course but something to note (it was fine rest of the week). Also for longer stays it would be better if more storage for clothes/luggage was available. Great stay regardless :)
