If you are not sure where to stay - don’t waste any time looking elsewhere, I can 100% recommend staying at Arran Lodge. We were so impressed with how well we were looked after, a clean and kept room with everything you might possibly need, including a welcome treat - homemade cake, space to park the car outside the house, a welcome reception and the most wonderful breakfast choice! Great location just a short walk away from the pier and 10-15 min drive from Babbacombe. Clean, cozy rooms with nice shampoo, conditioner and shower gel provided. Fantastic, freshly made delicious breakfasts. Thank you Jonathan & Sade for such a pleasant stay!
We had a truly wonderful stay at Gissons Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for. The room was spotless, stylish, and incredibly comfortable—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The ample on-site parking was a huge plus, making our arrival and daily outings completely hassle-free. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a relaxing and well-managed stay.
A very comfortable hotel, felt welcoming with their friendly staffs, an eco environment in every aspect and a lovely patio garden cafe with parasol and sofa. Great for family of 4, beds were comfy and the room was cool in summer with its clever eco cooling system. Location is great next to the M5 with easy access to Cornwall and Devon seasides.
Located not too far from the city centre, a lovely hotel with spacious rooms, adequate parking and excellent customer service. The in-house restaurant is excellent with good food options and reasonable price.
This was truly one of the most unforgettable birthday experiences I’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was beyond anything I expected. The staff went out of their way to make the day feel extra special, and I was genuinely moved by their kindness. The room was stunning, the vibe was just right, and every facility added to the comfort of our stay. A big thank you to the lovely lady at reception, her warm welcome and constant support throughout made all the difference. It was a birthday I’ll always remember!
Service and facilities excellent, we didn't have the breakfast so can't comment. My travelling companion had not long before had a knee operation and the staff couldn't do enough for her. Great location near the front all in all a very good choice for the 3 days we were there.

We have been to the cliffden hotel three times and had a club room on the first floor they were nice large rooms but this time we were on the second floor our room was very small and claustrophobic nothing like the photos in the booking . We asked for a different room and the man at reception said see me tomorrow morning and if there's a larger room you can have it. Later on in the day my partner went to reception to book a table for an evening meal for us. While she was booking the table the lady at the reception said there were no other rooms you can have. The barman was very polite nice to chat to. We only had one meal in the evening cod and chips could not find much cod it was all batter. Other meal gammon and chips gammon would be good to repair your soles on your shoes. Go to the local chip shop absolutely beautiful. We used the indoor swimming pool which was nice and clean. The gardens are lovely, and the beer is very expensive. Go to the jolly sailor pub with drinks at good prices. Reception is not very helpful. I can't understand why the hotel puts people with dogs on the second floor because when the dog wants to go to the toilet by the time you get down to the entrance the dog has already peed on the carpets. Luckily our dog can hold her pee and she is small enough to carry.I have followed other people with their dogs and seen it. Overall we were very disappointed with our stay this time.
ผผู้เข้าพักThe hotel itself was nice; can’t fault it. Our room however, had a weird, stale smell and was off-putting, with no way to ventilate the room by opening the windows, as you cannot open them - A/C is not a natural ventilation.
Bed was comfortable, slept perfectly fine, just not nice waking up with the smell, as mentioned before.
Breakfast was good, although I’ve had better.
AAndyPPThe hotel and area was fantastic, however, service at the front desk and the restaurant was lacking.
We took a long weekend break and were excited to try the beach club, however our experience was dampened by the service.
Being made to stand around for 5 minutes, whilst being told we hadn't paid (when we had) was unnecessary and frankly embarrassing.
The restaurant was the most disappointing part of the stay.
I'm the evening service was slow, followed by having our order wrong twice and also dropped.
Breakfast at the restaurant was lacking compared to cheaper hotels that offer continental. Small selection , nothing outstanding. When we ordered a cooked breakfast, it took 30-40 minutes to receive some eggs and pancakes although the restaurant was fairly quiet.
However, the room, facilities, and the spa were fantastic. Beautiful and comfortable rooms. The beach club outside was gorgeous. The spa was perfect and treatments were, to quote my partner, 'one of the best massages of my life'.
We're unsure if we would come back. Although the facilities were great, the service was mostly subpar and not what we'd expect from a harbour hotel.
ผผู้เข้าพักWe booked our stay back in September and arrived yesterday just before 2pm. We were told our rooms wouldn’t be ready until 2pm, which was fine, but when we asked if we could leave our luggage, we were informed it would cost £5 per room to store it.
At 2.25pm we returned to check in, only to be told again that the rooms still weren’t ready—yet suddenly we were offered luggage storage for free. Another receptionist then mentioned that one of our rooms was available, so we were able to leave all our bags there, which we appreciated.
As for the room itself: the carpet was heavily stained, and both the beds and the flooring were very creaky. The bathroom, however, was spotless.
On day two, we raised our concerns with the reception manager, who allowed us to store our bags free of charge. While this was helpful, the overall experience didn’t give us a great first impression of the hotel.
ผผู้เข้าพักLovely friendly place next to the river. Plenty of parking facilities just over the bridge which is approx five minute walk.
The room itself is spacious enough although for some may be a little dated. Bed is comfortable with a lovely duvet and pillows. Only downside was the curtains which are not blackout so do let in too much light for me but heyho I still had a reasonable night sleep
To get to the room we stayed in, we had to walk up a spiral staircase which for some people, this could be a struggle as the steps have been assembled quite tightly due to space so make the steps on the small side, there is obviously a handrail so coming down side ways helps.
Breakfast was continental consisting of fruit, cereal, yoghurt ( which was exceptionally tasty) toast etc. An English breakfast was offered at an additional cost but we preferred this option.
All in all a lovely place to stay with friendly welcoming hosts who were on hand to offer advise and assistance should you need it.
