Hotel Palacio took great care of us during a stressful travel period. We were traveling from Georgetown Guyana (where my phone was stolen) to three different destinations on different travel schedules. Hotel Palacio helped us coordinate our travel (to and from the international and local airports) in taxis and busses. They made us feel safe and secure in a very comfortable and homey environment. And they take VISA. All things two American couples are looking for when they arrive in Paramaribo. I highly recommend staying here

In Paramaribo zijn er meerdere mooie plekken om te verblijven. Dit is niet mijn eerste verblijf in Suriname. Dit keer heb ik ervoor gekozen om Torarica Royal te ervaren. Ik heb de luxe garden kamer geboekt. Ik kreeg een kamer met 1 palmboom en een uitzicht op de parkeerplek. Ik heb gevraagd om een andere kamer te regelen, anders annulering en ga ik wel elders. Ik kreeg een betere kamer. Wel mooie en ruime kamer met een balkoon. Gelukkig maar, want het mag wel voor dat geld. Let wel op: niet alle kamers zijn voorzien van een balkoon. Dus een tip: boek je een kamer in Torarica Royal, boek een kamer met een uitzicht naar een zwembad. Alle kamers op alle verdiepingen zijn gewoon beter qua uitzicht. Het eten is niet goedkoop, maar fantastische presentatie en de bediening is subliem. Het ontbijt is zeer matig. In betaalbare hotels in Paramaribo heb je veel beter ontbijt. Het zwembad is 1.75 diep en de trap is erg hoog. Mocht je fysiek beperking hebben, kun je dus niet zwemmen en is niet geschikt voor kinderen. Als gaat van Royal mag je ook gebruik maken van het zwembad in Torarica Resort. Maar deze was dicht , in ieder geval toen ik er was, kon ik geen gebruik van maken. Wellicht beperkt open? De locatie is natuurlijk goed, midden in het hartje centrum. Oh ja, als je taxi van en naar Torarica neemt, is deze direct duurder. Al met al, geen t****e keer voor mij.
