From the moment we arrived to spend Christmas there Jacqueline was a wonderful host. Helpful, polite and nothing was too much trouble. Our coach got stuck in the snow and the hotel sent transport down to collect us all. Our room was 110 and was at the front of the hotel with a balcony. The room was warm and cosy. The hotel has an old world charm and the staff are a credit to the hotel. They are friendly and go the extra mile. The food was delicious and plentiful. They even offered us seconds if we wanted it. They had music on Christmas day with our evening meal and it was delightful. The hotel is virtually opposite a Gondola station taking you up to Stockhütte. We would love to stay there again and would recommend it for its hospitality and charm.

I stayed at the Engel as part of a leger Luxuria tour in June 2024. On arrival the lovely lady that owns the hotel checked us all in swiftly and I had been allowed a room with a shower as previously requested. It was a good size room and nicely decorated. I had a Juliet balcony also. There were 2 comfy twin beds and a tv. If like me you suffer with the heat take a fan as there is no fan or air conditioning at the hotel. I ended up buying a fan on our first day out. You will also need the 3 pin Swiss plug adapters as the thicker 2 pin euro plugs do not fit in the sockets. Adapters can be bought locally for around £7 and the hotel reception also loaned me one for my stay. Breakfast was not a huge choice but enough to get by on for the week - eggs, bread, some cereals, yoghurt, fruit and cheeses/meats. I found dinner a bit more hit and miss for me as I am limited on what I can eat. I cannot have meat or fish, which on two nights was the only main option so I ended up not having the main meals. Soup was offered in replacement. The bar was reasonably priced and the house beer was very nice. The outside seating was nicely placed with good views of the hills/mountains. The staff are all friendly and very attentive. The room was cleaned well daily and I had no issues in respect of cleanliness. Be aware that there is not a huge amount to do locally. I took the cable car up on a leisure day and there is a restaurant at the top with some beautiful walks back down. There is just the one small supermarket locally and no other shops that I saw. It’s a good base to see Switzerland and I enjoyed my stay. I would recommend this hotel and extend my thanks to the owner for a lovely stay.

A nice, quiet hotel in a pleasant little village. Very comfortable room, and very pleasant staff. The host, Jacqueline, couldn't have been more amenable. The meals were good & the service was excellent. Ideal location for exploring, and a bus stop immediately opposite for the walkers.

The hotel and the room we got were very clean and comfortable. It has a restaurant that serves very good food. Staff are warm and friendly. It has a good parking area. The guidance we were provided on what to see and experience made our stay all the more worthwhile.

In all my years of travelling I have never felt so at home and welcomed as I did on my recent stay at the Hotel Engel. I was there for the Christmas period with my parents and had the most loveliest of stays and time. The staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much for them. The rooms were spacious and spotless and the bed was so comfortable, lovely duvet and pillows too! The icing on the cake was the morning view from my bedroom, opening the curtains to a view of the sow covered mountains! Absolute bliss. The evening meals were tasty and well cooked / presented. Our evenings were spent in the bar, where even the locals made you feel welcome. The only down side to the holiday / hotel was having to leave! 100% would stay there again and highly recommend to anyone.
