We stayed because our husbands were going to the rugby and the girls having a trip into Exeter. Location of the hotel was perfect not a long walk to the train station for us to get into town. On arrival at 12.30 reception was full queues of people trying to check in or leave bags. A man was sent out to take our car registration and names and then we could wait in the bar until they were ready for us. The boys waited in the bar and we headed off. They were checked in before 3 when they had to leave for the rugby which was good but to be honest we knew we were early and would have been happy leaving the luggage. We were told out of the 3 couples we had an upgrade to what turned out to be an accessible room and to be honest it isn’t an upgrade. I would have preferred the room we had booked which certainly wasn’t accessible. One of the other couples was over charged by £70 on check in - which we did sort out on our return. Whilst shopping we checked to see if our mobile key was ready but no we had to go to check in and do that on return to the hotel so they could Id us seems to defeat the object. On arrival back joined a queue again to activate the mobile key. It seems to be the longest slowest check of any hotel I have stayed in. When we finally got to the front we were given a normal key as it might take a while for the mobile one to work. Good job because it took nearly an hour to activate and then when I tried it it wouldn’t work with my phone. We then went to the bar before dinner again it was packed we managed to get a table but only 2 servers so wait for drinks was a little long. Price was ok. We had a table booked in the view for dinner and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. Again restaurant was very busy but the staff were lovely. Couldn’t have water. On the table as the waitress informed us they had run out of jugs, we said we would wait but she said no they had no jugs? She had to keep topping up from a bottle and she wasn’t allowed to leave the bottle on the table. Perhaps a trip to the next door IKEA May have sorted that. The main meal came with various items missing off of each plate, salsa, salad and chips. Overall was nice though. Breakfast was an another matter, we sat in the bar as the restaurant was packed. The design of the restaurant for breakfast is awful. People queueing for hot food past the croissants and bread and toaster so someone is always in the way. The fruit and cold meat and cheeses on the end of the hot line so missed by a lot of people. Only Greek or soya p,Ian yoghurt noth8ng flavoured, ran out of compote and fruit. Had to ask for the orange juice to be topped up. Just very disorganised and badly set out. Now I know it was a busy rugby weekend but the hotel are obviously fully aware of this. The staff were pleasant and the food in the evening lovely, in the morning ok. The room was clean and lovely - definitely not an upgrade though so please don’t make out it was. I booked the hotel as I took my son to view Exeter university. The location was great, room very clean. Staff were very pleasant & helpful. The only thing that let it down was the breakfast, I couldn’t actually eat the hot food. Eggs were tasteless, sausages didn’t taste like meat & bacon was chewy.

I can't not rave about this place enough! I've become a frequent stayer here since January because of this. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and are very much willing to accommodate you, as a guest. There have been times where I have had to arrive early and they have more than willing to reserve my luggage and place it in my room before checking in, which is a huge weight lifted. The rooms are very clean and extremely organised - I haven't felt so comfortable there. I have stayed in other hotels (that are very known, due to company reputation and honestly aren't worth the price) in Exeter and this place is always the top contender. The free specialty hot drinks is always a plus, when you need a quick fix and it is easily accessible. As a woman who does travel solo here, this place is extremely safe and easy to access especially if you want to do something in town, uni or access other areas via train, as it is approximately 5 mins to Exeter Central and 10 mins to Exeter St David's. Please do give this place a try, you seriously won't be disappointed - this is absolutely my go-to recommend for anyone who wants to come to Exeter and will be coming here in future!

We stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend in July , while going to a let's rock Exeter concert . We were extremely disappointed with our stay and I honestly believe this is probably the most overpriced place we have ever stayed . The room rate per night was £98 , in reality it's worth £30 plus an extra £5 per head for breakfast . We expected it to be basic .... but not this basic .... we booked through ********** and weren't aware of the full details . When booking in we were given very little info , no breakfast times etc . There were no parking spaces near the accommodation so we had to drop the luggage off and park the car a long way down a hill !! We were 5 floors up with no lift !!! Staff appeared vague and not all welcoming . Once in the room , it felt very claustrophobic, the room was hot and very small, it had patio doors but they could only be opened a small amount as had a lock on them. The bed was a metal one with a cheap mattress and wasn't comfortable . The bathroom was tiny and a wet room ( literally ) the shower wasn't great and similar to those you get in a camp site . I'm guessing we paid more as Exeter was pretty booked up this weekend due to the festival but I asked what the normal room rate is and was told it was £83 !!! Even £83 is a ridiculous price for such inferior basic accommodation . The bathroom is shabby and the door doesn't go right down to the floor , the wardrobe door needed attention as one of the brackets was coming off . The only toiletries provided was a tiny bar of soap and there was only one coffee, one tea, milk and sugar , so we had to ask for more . The toilet roll was nasty and poor quality, so we went to the nearest supermarket and bought our own . Booking this place put a real dampener on our weekend and I'd never stay here again . If you're going to charge £99 for a room , at least make it a decent standard . We found it quite noisy , doors slamming and the fire alarm went off at 11.30 pm one night ..... the only good thing was the quality of breakfast but eating in a school type canteen and queuing up for everything isn't our thing . Next time I will book a travelodge or premier inn, I will save a lot of money and get a decent night's sleep . Speaking to others staying here , I know we weren't the only ones disappointed with our stay and felt it was a total waste of money . Would not recommend this to anyone .

We stayed because our husbands were going to the rugby and the girls having a trip into Exeter. Location of the hotel was perfect not a long walk to the train station for us to get into town. On arrival at 12.30 reception was full queues of people trying to check in or leave bags. A man was sent out to take our car registration and names and then we could wait in the bar until they were ready for us. The boys waited in the bar and we headed off. They were checked in before 3 when they had to leave for the rugby which was good but to be honest we knew we were early and would have been happy leaving the luggage. We were told out of the 3 couples we had an upgrade to what turned out to be an accessible room and to be honest it isn’t an upgrade. I would have preferred the room we had booked which certainly wasn’t accessible. One of the other couples was over charged by £70 on check in - which we did sort out on our return. Whilst shopping we checked to see if our mobile key was ready but no we had to go to check in and do that on return to the hotel so they could Id us seems to defeat the object. On arrival back joined a queue again to activate the mobile key. It seems to be the longest slowest check of any hotel I have stayed in. When we finally got to the front we were given a normal key as it might take a while for the mobile one to work. Good job because it took nearly an hour to activate and then when I tried it it wouldn’t work with my phone. We then went to the bar before dinner again it was packed we managed to get a table but only 2 servers so wait for drinks was a little long. Price was ok. We had a table booked in the view for dinner and the food was lovely and reasonably priced. Again restaurant was very busy but the staff were lovely. Couldn’t have water. On the table as the waitress informed us they had run out of jugs, we said we would wait but she said no they had no jugs? She had to keep topping up from a bottle and she wasn’t allowed to leave the bottle on the table. Perhaps a trip to the next door IKEA May have sorted that. The main meal came with various items missing off of each plate, salsa, salad and chips. Overall was nice though. Breakfast was an another matter, we sat in the bar as the restaurant was packed. The design of the restaurant for breakfast is awful. People queueing for hot food past the croissants and bread and toaster so someone is always in the way. The fruit and cold meat and cheeses on the end of the hot line so missed by a lot of people. Only Greek or soya p,Ian yoghurt noth8ng flavoured, ran out of compote and fruit. Had to ask for the orange juice to be topped up. Just very disorganised and badly set out. Now I know it was a busy rugby weekend but the hotel are obviously fully aware of this. The staff were pleasant and the food in the evening lovely, in the morning ok. The room was clean and lovely - definitely not an upgrade though so please don’t make out it was. I would stay again if husband was going t

This hotel is simply superb with spacious and tastefully furnished rooms. Considerable thought has been deployed to makes sure the ‘customer experience’ is a positive one. Nice large TV, piping hot water and not just a shower bug a nice bath! I stay in hotel 4 nights every week across North, East, South and West. I can honestly say after you navigate the windy staircase you will find the accommodation that ranks as the best in Exeter by a mile. Certainly one of the best experiences I have ever had, that good! Just check out the photos. The team were very helpful , an added bonus!
