The appearance of the Somaya Museum is worth visiting by yourselves. You have to set aside time to visit the gallery itself. The collection is amazing, and what is more known is that it is a private art collection. The top floor is almost entirely Rodin sculptures, the second largest collection in the world. The other five layers are equally impressive, including many of the works of French Impressionist painters. Free access. If you are found to have any problems, you must check your bag. Including liquid and self-shooting sticks (yeah!). Pack checking is free and fast, simple and safe.
Private museums are still free. If you are bored, come in and have a look. To tell the truth is OK. But without English, I don't know what it is. There's free WiFi in it. Let's go.
The exterior/building of the Soumaya Museum is itself a piece of modern art that is leading the trend for Mexico's emerging architectural design prowess.
Mexico City is slowly but surely turning itself into a must visit destination for tourists by creating a number of new important galleries and museums. The Soumaya Museum opened in its new location in the upscale Polanco neighbourhood in 2011 and cost $70 million to build. As you might expect, the building itself is stunning and the works of contemporary art enclosed are also very impressive, featuring works from Auguste Rodin to frank Gehry. Best of all, the Soumaya Museum is completely free to visit and enjoy.
