Overall, this was a good stay with some truly special aspects, but also a few areas that could be improved. The hotel is quite remote, which makes it feel very private and peaceful, surrounded by nature such as the lake, forest, and mountains. Even though we visited other viewpoints around Qiandao Lake, this location felt more special because of its quiet and secluded setting. The hotel itself feels like a destination, with scenic viewpoints, a garden with a lake, a cave, and even trekking trails to explore. The garden area includes a swan lake, which is a nice idea. However, the swans are kept in a very small netted space. It does not look great visually and feels restrictive for the animals, which took away from the experience. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a very comfortable bed that was not too soft or too hard. Sound insulation was excellent, which made for great sleep. I also requested a firmer pillow, and it was provided quickly. The lake view room upgrade was a highlight. The view was stunning and made it hard to leave the room. If you stay here, I would strongly recommend booking a lake view room. The layout was nice, with both a balcony and a window view. The thick frame dividing the view slightly affected the overall feel, but it was not a major issue. The bathtub was also a nice addition. Cleaning was good overall. The AC did not work very well during the hot midday hours, although it was fine at other times of the day. Facilities such as the gym, yoga room, pool, and game room were nice additions. However, they felt quite standard for a five-star hotel, and I have experienced better quality in similar properties. One great feature was the free Tesla charging, but this was not communicated at all. We only discovered it by chance, which is a missed opportunity as it is a strong benefit. Breakfast was acceptable but not at the expected level. The coffee and bakery were the weakest parts. Ordering is done via QR code instead of in person, which felt a bit impersonal for a luxury hotel atmosphere. Service during breakfast also felt a bit off, as staff seemed focused on their tasks and were not very proactive in guiding or prioritizing guests, which made the experience feel less warm and not the kindest. Service was generally kind and friendly, but inconsistent at times. Some staff could benefit from additional training, as not everyone followed typical five-star service standards such as greeting guests or offering priority. Another disappointment was the welcome fruit, which was included in our package but not provided on arrival. After we asked, a staff member came carrying items for multiple rooms in a bag and handed us just one apple and one peach. This felt unprofessional although something very small. Another point worth noting is that the hotel was originally booked as an InterContinental, but about 1-2 weeks before arrival it was no longer part of the brand (somehow on Trip.com it still says intercontinental). Not sure if this impacted the experience, but overall it did feel slightly below what you might expect from that level, even though the stay itself was still enjoyable. The hotel also offers free Tesla charging, which is a great feature. However, this was not communicated at all during or before our stay, and we only discovered it by chance. This feels like a missed opportunity, as it is a strong benefit that could add significant value for guests I did not try lunch or dinner, so I cannot comment on those. Overall, this is a very peaceful and unique stay with amazing natural surroundings and a beautiful lake view. However, some service and operational details need improvement to truly match a luxury standard.

Our stay at the Silk Commerce Clubhouse in Wuzhen wasn’t just a hotel visit; it was an experience of sublime harmony. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an atmosphere where history and contemporary luxury are woven together with impeccable taste. The property itself is a masterpiece of preservation. The historical structure, with its classic Jiangnan water town architecture, has been converted with the utmost respect and sophistication. Inside, however, every modern amenity is thoughtfully integrated—plush bedding, a stunning rain shower, and elegant tech touches—creating a sanctuary of comfort that honors the past without sacrificing a single present-day pleasure. A crowning jewel of each day was the made-to-order breakfast. It was nothing short of spectacular—perfectly balanced, fresh, and beautifully presented. It provided the ideal, energizing start, especially because this clubhouse offers a golden key to Wuzhen: the privilege of exploring the ancient canals and lanes in the serene morning hours, blissfully free from the crowds. To have the misty, poetic beauty of Wuzhen almost to oneself is an unforgettable luxury, and it’s an advantage that truly sets this property apart. Yet, what truly elevated our stay from exceptional to unforgettable was the service, personified by Jiajia. Her warm, attentive, and genuinely caring hospitality catered to our every need with a graceful efficiency and a radiant smile. She anticipated requests, offered wonderful local insights, and handled every detail with such personal care that we felt not just as guests, but as cherished friends. She is the heart and soul of the Clubhouse experience. The Silk Commerce Clubhouse is more than a place to sleep; it’s the perfect, tranquil base from which to fall in love with Wuzhen. It offers a rare blend of cultured history, modern comfort, culinary delight, and, most importantly, a standard of service that makes you feel profoundly welcome. We had a really nice time at naked Stables. The property is incredibly green, the huts are very nice, and the general service is solid. It's a lovely environment to just relax in nature. However, the absolute highlight of our trip was Joan. Navigating travel logistics when you don't speak a word of Chinese can sometimes be tricky, but Joan went completely above and beyond to help us with absolutely everything. She was incredibly proactive, patient, and truly cared about making sure our experience was amazing from start to finish. The hotel itself is nice, but Joan is the one who made our stay unforgettable. We cannot thank her enough for her exceptional hospitality. If you stay here, you'll be incredibly lucky to have her looking after you!

An unforgettable luxury wellness retreat. I discovered Xixi Xin Hotel while searching for a peaceful escape, and it exceeded every expectation. The architecture is breathtaking, blending traditional Chinese culture with modern luxury in a way that feels elegant, authentic and incredibly calming. The attention to detail throughout the property is exceptional. The suites are beautifully designed with natural, eco-friendly materials that create an instantly grounding atmosphere. Upon entering, you’re welcomed by a Marshall speaker with a curated selection of nature sounds—waves, birds, rustling leaves and crackling fire—setting the tone for complete relaxation. The bathroom is equally impressive, with beautiful curtains opening to a soaking spa prepared daily with fresh rose petals and natural bath salts. Thoughtful touches such as soft linen loungewear and complimentary disposable swimwear made the experience feel effortlessly luxurious. Service is truly five-star. Each suite is assigned a personal butler who is attentive, responsive and genuinely committed to making your stay effortless. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and the hospitality was warm, personal and sincere. I was initially hesitant about the vegetarian restaurant, but it was one of the highlights of my stay. The dishes were nutritious, beautifully presented and worthy of fine dining, while still being surprisingly filling. For those who prefer meat, there are also excellent restaurants nearby. The wellness program is outstanding, with daily yoga, Tai Chi, sound baths, traditional Chinese medicine consultations and other healing experiences. Classes run for around an hour and are led by knowledgeable instructors who genuinely care about your wellbeing, creating a deeply relaxing and restorative experience. With only around 8–10 suites, the hotel remains wonderfully quiet and intimate, allowing guests to completely disconnect from the outside world. After just three nights, I left feeling genuinely relaxed, grounded and restored. A rare hidden gem that combines exceptional architecture, thoughtful design, impeccable service and meaningful wellness experiences. If you’re looking for a peaceful five-star retreat focused on luxury, wellness and tranquillity, I couldn’t recommend Xixi Xin Hotel more highly. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Xianhua Sandalwood International Hotel Rating: ★★★★☆ We recently stayed at Xianhua Sandalwood International Hotel during the national holiday in China, and overall, our experience was quite enjoyable. Here’s a breakdown of our stay: **Location: 浦江仙华檀宫国际度假酒店 **Check-In Experience:**   We arrived at Xianhua Sandalwood International Hotel and the check-in process was smooth and efficient. The staff greeted us warmly and provided all the necessary information about our stay. However, the English was limited, but at least it was smooth and no hassles.   **Room Comfort:**   Our room was spacious and well-appointed. We appreciated the comfortable king sized bed, view, huge bathtub, cleanliness, and spaciousness. However, as a coffee lover, there was only one serving of coffee, so when we woke up the next morning I was quite upset that only myself was able to enjoy an early morning coffee. Nevertheless, it was perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. **Facilities:**   The hotel offered various facilities that enhanced our stay. We particularly enjoyed facilities like a fitness center, indoor pool, hot springs, table tennis and the pool table. The breakfast buffet was delightful, offering a mix of local and international cuisine. **Service:**   The staff was exceptional. They were always available and eager to assist with any requests. Their friendly approach made our stay even more pleasant. The front desk manager Kang was super friendly and arranged for the coffee bar to open earlier the day we checked out. **Room for Improvement:**   While our overall experience was positive, there were a couple of areas for improvement. We traveled with our 7 month old daughter and the noise and maintenance were quite unpleasant. However, these didn’t detract significantly from our enjoyment. **Final Thoughts:**   This international hotel is just a few minutes' drive from the city, offering a serene escape with a beautiful exterior. Guests are welcomed by a picturesque fish pond, vibrant gardens, playful rabbits, and a designated play area for kids, making it an ideal family-friendly destination.  In addition to comfortable accommodations and expected amenities, the hotel provides a relaxing environment for guests of all ages. Would we return? Absolutely!
