No air conditioning so very humi and hot in room. Toilet was hard to flush. Plugs too far to charge on a table or stand. You need to unplug things to get closer. Overall better than the travel lodge and Premier inn nearby.
Was a really nice hotel very quiet and very clean! Staff for check in were really friendly and the place was cheap too! The rooms are very big with a lot of space, balcony area was good to relax on too with good views of the city center
Price was competitive, however the location is surrounded by road works, herras fencing and temporary footpaths.
The TV signal was poor, making it unwatchable. The cistern in the toilet was running all night.
I won't be back
The hotel location is good, nearby the retail park. And around 10mins drive to the seafront.
But the hotel room too small compare with the other area outside London. We booked the airport view, but the window also too small. So not really enjoy with the view. The hotel is old, but the staff are very friendly and helpful. Not too many facilities in the hotel.
By the way, we are really enjoyed our trip in Holiday Inn. If we come to Southend on sea we will come again.
Britain's oldest recorded town is now home to new generation bedrooms, each featuring an impressive 40" flat screen TV, bright, modern bathroom with a large shower head, and a brand new, slumber-inducing, king-size Hypnos bed at Premier Inn Colchester Town Centre. Immerse yourself in history and nature at Colchester Castle and Colchester Natural History Museum. Or, stay firmly in the 21st-century in the town's many high street shops and bars. If you fancy venturing further afield, Colchester Zoo is a 15-minute drive and there are lots of pretty Essex villages in the surrounding area such as Wivenhoe, home to Essex University.
The hotel is in a great location on the cliffs above the sea front. Everything was very clean and staff friendly and polite. We particularly liked the outside terrace area at the front of the hotel. We arrived by train and it is about a 15 minute walk from the station. Didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on food.
Would certainly stay here again if we are ever in Southend on Sea.
The staff are always very friendly here and accommodating. This hotel is somewhere I'm always happy to keep returning - it's convenient for Stansted airport with the airport bus available.
Continental breakfast is from 4:00am as well which is ideal if you're heading off early.
BBernsterVery quiet area you could swarm an apocalypse had happened
If you require medication put in the fridge ask the female receptionist the male is nasty and just outright refused
Breakfast is good and restaurant attached to hotel is good
Also Manager of restaurant is great
Not far from station 10 minute walk with tunnel under road

SSamuelThe hotel staff were very nice and kind. Upon arrival we had a lot of bags and the staff made sure we got a room on ground floor and there was a trolley to move our items at once.
We were indoors all the time so cleaning staff left our room to give us privacy. Next morning we requested to have our room cleaned and in 5 mins there was someone there to clean. So efficient!!
ผผู้เข้าพักGood on value for money. peaceful location and environment, comfortable stay, helpful staff. Found a spider and a few insects in the washroom, they can definitely do better with cleanliness. asked housekeeping for a general room clean up while I was out and they emptied the bins and all but beds were not made. I left my Apple Watch accidentally in the room and when I came back it was still there . So good honest staff.
Ggudetama_travelsThe swimming pool appeared quite big, although we didn't get a chance to use it. Our room was fairly roomy for two people, but with our group of four, it felt a bit crowded. It's worth noting that if you have heavy luggage, you might want to avoid booking a room on the top floor (second floor), as there are no lifts available in this hotel. The bathroom provided only shampoo and body wash, so you might need to bring or purchase your own conditioner.
The breakfast exceeded my expectations. Despite anticipating a traditional British offering, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety available, including English hot meals, a salad bar, a selection of cereals (there was Alpen!), milk alternatives (I particularly enjoyed the Oatly), and two coffee machines.
Their breakfast was so impressive that I will definitely consider staying at this hotel again when I visit Colchester next time.
ผผู้เข้าพักThe room was good- clean, well equipped, + biscuits provided as well as tea and coffee! Can't fault it.
Can't comment on the breakfast (included in room price) as its not available at weekends until after 8.30 and I had to be elsewhere by then. From 7.00 in the week.
The thing that let the place down was the parking - or more the point , the lack of it. There must be 40 rooms but only space for 4 cars! All the other car parks around and there are plenty, had max 4 hour stay limit signs on display. Rather than risk a parking charge / fine I found some on-road parking 5 mins walk away and hoped the car would be still there in the morning (it was). If you want a chance for the 4 places you'll need to get there early afternoon - its bedlam there in the evening with the other pub and food outlet customers vying for space, well it was on Friday and Saturday evenings.
