Victoria Falls River Lodge

Absolutely beautiful lodge accessible by speedboat on the Zambezi River right next to a national park. Large comfortable rooms with private pool; delicious meals; wonderful staff; beautiful cruises, game drives, and a trip to the Falls. Can I give more than 5 stars?

The resort is an experience all by itself. Well appointed reception, excellent staff and service, rooms exceeded our expectations, clean, comfortable, high end dining by executive chefs, and right in the water so there are river tours and fishing available. Brand new safari vehicles took us to see the wild game in the National Park. Each room has its own cold plunge pool and we had two elephants drink from our pool, when we were lounging on the deck only 15 feet away!

We stayed at the River Lodge for two nights. The rooms are very nice. I liked having the patio and plunge pool right on the river, and the outdoor shows is great. Two things in the room could use improvement: despite the ample space there is only one sink, and in the morning there was no hot water. We mentioned the latter to the manager and she suggested perhaps they should add insulation to the hot water tanks (which depend upon solar for their heat). That would be a great add. A very special place , overall a fantastic experience- We travlled via the border crossing with Bottswana and our driver dropped us off at the meeting point which is on the Zambezi river or as Nic our guide renamed it “the Mighty Zambezi river “ and henwas right what a beautiful widw river ! We were collected by our guide for our stay “ Nic” he was very knowledgeable and engaging. He picked us up in a speedboat and 10 minutes later arrived at the lodge. Very smart arrival / reception area We were in room 7 which was excellent , v comfy bed , couch etc - for us it was out first experience of none permanent structures - they are huge and loads of space shower (s) bath , air con etc but you still have the experience of “glamping “ but very very much 5* !!! We were a little nervous about mosquitos etc but overall we did ok - you get bug spray etc Food was absolutely excellent , little disappointed only a couple of choices of wine , given the quality of the food We undertook 2 game drives , 1 river cruise and a private tour of vic falls - the highlights , sunset , falls, crocs and the hippos !!! ( nic found about 12 hoppos in 1 place) So why have we scored it only 4* / 5 2 reasons - whilst our guide tried their best we only had a small number of sitings of animals. That said we did see a Honey badger which was super cool . Perhaps it was us but the team were always super keen to ask if we were having a great time , was everything ok , we were asked 4 x at breakfast by different people of it was ok - that was repeated so many times - how was your boat ride , how was your game drive , etc etc you have a great lodge , with great people sometimes on vacation people like to chat to the person they are on vacation with Robert in the restaurant needs a shout out , a great genuine person who gets it right with your guests - james the guy who looked after our room for us Overall a great place / location and ideal if you want a memorable place to visit the falls which are a real wonder of the world , oh and did i say the food was fantastic - well done chef !

Stunning location at both the River Lodge and the Island Lodge. The River Lodge is much bigger than the Island Lodge that is more intimate. Can highly recommend both properties. Island Lodge have a small gym and spa, a small shap and a very nice bar area set away from the main area. Love the decor, and the staff are excellent. You can choose from a game drive activity or river cruise, morning and evening. The lodge is +/- 20 min drive from the town of Victoria Falls

Top notch without a doubt the overall experience was truly amazing ,the warmth and love given from the entry till the exit was jus too sweet.charles our guide was so patient n always smiling ,ash put waiter made it so easy with a fussy eating child..the rooms will blow ur mind... including the activities...truly recommended..
