First time in Malta and we were very happy with our hotel choice, the staff were all 5* friendly, professional and helpful. We had a really good experience checking in where we were greeted with prosecco. Our room was a superior double and was very stylish and spacious. There were a few finishing details around the desk area which were a bit rough but other than that it was lovely. The turning down service at night was a special touch. Breakfast was wonderful, everything you could ask for, cooked and presented to a high standard and thank you to the hard working waiting staff. As with other guests we did have issues with the pool. The area itself is wonderful with an amazing view of Valletta, if you can get the right beds, which are super comfy. After reading the reviews we decided to be bold so when we were instructed to turn right down to the corner that hotel guests were being hidden in, we ignored the instruction and just found 2 beds in the best area near the beautiful pool. The music is loud it's true, and increases as the day goes on so you need noise cancelling headphones. There were very attentive waiters and drinks were reasonably priced. On Saturday however they had more staff and we were escorted to a different corner where we had a view of a concrete wall with railings. Waiters did not seem so keen to visit us in this area and there were no cushions or tables. I've attached 2 photos of the different views we had from each position. If we had not been brave for the first 2 days then we would have had the horrible place every day. As the outdoor area is a big part of our holiday, I would not return to this hotel as it's a bit of a gamble around the pool. It's a shame that the hotel have not negotiated with the bar to ensure that their guests have the best experience - but it seems that the hotel does not own the pool. If things change, I would definitely return as the hotel itself is wonderful.
