Went here for my birthday holiday, the staff were friendly and helpful. Location was amazing and felt safe for a solo female traveller. Amenities were provided, with nice clean spacious room.

What a fantastic stay. Firstly the hotel has been renovated beautifully our superior room was great with everything you could need for a great stay. Secondly we stayed half board and both breakfast and dinner buffets were spot on. Great selection at both with regional and international cuisine. Third and finally the service levels were exceptional throughout the best I've ever experienced at a hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone whether it be the concierge, a waiter or room service all exceptional. Will 100% return to this hotel

I should start by saying I’m a mybarcelo member and that I have stayed at a few Barcelo hotels before and also have 3 more booked this year, so I know what the usual standard set is! Pros: Location is great, hotel staff are friendly, building is clean and modern. Breakfast is on the whole pretty good. Rooms are clean and comfortable but that’s something you’d expect at a 5 star hotel. The views over Valletta are stunning. When it’s right it’s great however it’s often not right! Cons: it isn’t a 5 star experience One of the main selling points for this hotel was the stunning view you get over Valletta, which I can admit are beautiful. As a result of this, we paid extra and decided to book a room with a ‘Sea Front’ view - the quote on the Barcelo website states that our room would have ‘unobstructed views of the sea’. I have included the view we received in our first room as a photo below …. How you can sell that as a ‘sea front unobstructed view’ is beyond me and I personally feel conned out of our money. Thankfully after 3 days of complaining they moved us to a room just down the corridor, which did have a better view (albeit still partially obstructed), but this shouldn’t have been the case in the first place! Our room was supposed to have a sofa as per the website and the photos - it didn’t … Some of the main selling points of the hotel (facilities such as the lovely looking outdoor pool and the spacious gym) don’t actually belong to the hotel - not sure how you can class it as a 5 star hotel if they don’t even own these facilities. When you access these facilities, you are treated pretty awfully might I add - this is because you haven’t paid to use the gym or paid to reserve a sunbed - which you have to do as a member of the public. Not really good enough! You also have to reserve a sunbed for the day which is a strange concept anyway, and once you’re there you’re not allowed to leave otherwise they will give your bed away - we were told this by one of the staff at the beach club. The gym doesn’t have any water … bit strange and something I’ve never encountered before. Logically we thought that the spa (next door and part of the hotel) would have water … nope! That is ridiculous … what sort of a spa attached to a 5 star hotel doesn’t provide guests with water. What sort of spa doesn’t provide guests with water full stop? This is a hotel that charged us upwards of 200 euros per night for a room by the way! The hotel is situated right next to a busy main road, which is loud until the early hours of the morning - even on the 8th floor. The building next to the hotel is under construction so there is construction noise too. After 3 nights of our stay, we went to the guest relations manager to advise him of the issues we had experienced. He was sympathetic and friendly however nothing was done to improve our experience since (we stayed for another 4 nights). Our visit was ruined by the loud music being played at the outdoor venue opposite - Manta. The hotel staff said they would try to help, but unfortunately the problem continued throughout our visit. Apparently the hotel owners have sub - contracted the Manta facility to a third party - perhaps they should exercise more control over them instead of allowing them to ruin people's visits. Needless to say, we won't be returning whilst this situation exists, and we strongly recommend you go elsewhere if you want a quiet, relaxing environment.

Hotel only opened in September so everything is very new and modern. Huge bedroom & bathroom with bath & separate shower cubicle. Room cleaning was done to a very high standard tea / coffee etc plus a bottle of water were replaced daily. We had dinner in the restaurant every evening managed by the very efficient pleasant manager Thomas,who made sure everyone was well looked after.He is a real asset to the hotel. Breakfast had a great choice with chefs happy to cook eggs for you on request. The restaurant waiter / waitresses were so pleasant and very helpful.Water was supplied free of charge with dinner. Reception staff made a point of acknowledging you when you entered or left the hotel.They also were helpful if required. We had an early flight from UK but had to wait till 3 pm for our room which we found unusual as normally hotels can accommodate this on arrival. Great location for Shopping Centre Public transport etc. We would always use this hotel if we return to Malta . Thank you to a fabulous staff for a lovely stay.

My daughter is celiac and the chief took his time and prepared gluten free meals for her. Also anything I asked for at the front desk was given to me They also were very help full to myself and my father as he is in a wheelchair Highly recommend this hotel.
