Casona Sforza

Beautiful hotel designed by master architect Kallach. We booked only breakfast for 8 persons, not sleeping at the hotel. You have to pay in advance a minimum amount of 500 pesos per person. Fantastic table and delicious breakfast. I just not put a 5 star since we ordered more than the 500 pesos per person, and when paying the bill I realised the manager in charge of the breakfasts with the walkie-talkie who prepaired the bill added a 20% tip without asking me. Not elegant.

From the moment you arrive at Casona Sforza you are welcomed by some of the most amazing people: Lupe, Luisa, & Viri. You are greeted with such joy that you soon realize you have made the right choice & your vacation has commenced. Melo the loveliest person who helped us with our extremely heavy luggage through the sand and never once stopped smiling as well. Every morning we had breakfast at the hotel's restaurant which is stunning in every direction you look. You enjoy breakfast with amazing beach views & sounds from the waves you can watch as you drink your coffee. Chef Oliver & Doña Norma are some of the most talented people in the kitchen! They make it impossible for you to leave anything on the plate with how delicious they make every single thing they cook, especially the Huevos Oaxaqueños! The service from the waiters, Alexis, Anton, Luis Angel, Juan, Adeline, Diana, and Roberto to the bartenders Ivan Beal, Roman, Manoa, and Gaston is impeccable. They are the heart of Casona Sforza, they make you feel at home. Every day they receive you with a smile and warm your heart with so much happiness. It was painful to leave but definitely one of the most beautiful trips we have taken. We loved every moment at Casona Sforza, it has breathtaking architecture but the people who work there are truly what make Casona Sforza so beautiful.

There are no words to describe this place and what you experience when you stay there. Facilities and amenities are beautiful, perfect pool even the one located private in the room. Staff is great, good service and very lovely people, perfect place to take some days of relax in the pacific, 100% recommended. Casona Sofrza is a MUST when you visit Puerto Escondido.

Off the beaten track on an endless stretch of Oaxacan beach, Casona Sforza offers the constant backdrop of the Pacific Ocean crashing on the shore line, saltwater pools, wonderful staff and the simply stunning and thoughtful architecture of Alberto Kalach. As one can expect of an Eco property, electricity can drop on the odd occasion, wifi is not turned up to 11 all over the place (thankfully) and not everything is served within 5 seconds of ordering. It’s a wonderful place to come to unwind - not to endlessly work/post or ‘be busy’. With just 9 accommodations (pool suites on ground level, ocean suites above) it’s a quiet and secluded stay. The longer, the better. Enjoy.

This place looks gorgeous but unfortunately it’s style without the substance. The staff appear to be very attentive but in reality were very slow (had to wait 25 minutes for a glass of wine) and one member of staff was quite rude. We also asked for a vegetarian option and was told that a dish with pork was vegetarian but thankfully didn’t eat it before it was too late. The food was over priced (west London prices but without the quality to back it up).

We had an amazing time at Casona Sforza. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is the best. Everyone, from the reception (Julieta and Lupita) to the bartenders, and servers (Viri, Diana, Agustin etc) is there to make sure you feel comfortable and having a good time. We tried almost everything on the menu and each dish was delicious, as well as the drinks. The hotel is part of a special social project called Pueblo del Sol, which offers work and training to local communities, and which provides most of the food, pottery, etc. to the hotel. Totally recommend it. We'll be back! Pasamos unos días increíbles en Casona Sforza. El hotel es precioso y el staff de lo mejor. Todos, desde la recepción (Julieta y Lupita) los bartenders, y camareros (Viri, Diana, Agustín, etc.) se aseguran que uno se sienta cómodo y la pase bien. Probamos casi todo lo que había en el menú y cada plato fué delicioso, al igual que los cocteles. Y para completar, el hotel forma parte a un proyecto social llamado Pueblo del Sol, que proporciona trabajo y entrenamiento a comunidades locales, el cual provee de muchos de los alimentos, ceramicas etc al hotel. Lo recomendamos totalmente y vamos a volver!

Love the hotel! We had some very attentive and great staff that communicate via WhatsApp. The hotel is far away enough to feel like a secluded community paradise. The beach is great for a run and to sit alone! Absolutely no one on the beach as the waves are very strong. The hotel room was more spacious than the pictures showed. We stayed in the private dipping pool room… it felt very quiet and tranquil. The ac kept the room cool. In-service was prompt and the food was just as tasty as it was in the restaurant. When my partner got a stomach bug, they were very attentive, even providing us contact with an on-call doctor. They certainly now how to make you feel appreciated. The only drawback is that part of the street leading to the hotel is not paved. This makes for a lumpy drive. However, my partner and I rented atv’s and that’s how we got around town. This was like an adventure.
