Torre Bruno

Beautifully restored, the ‘torre’ stands in a peaceful hilltop location surrounded by olive groves and green hills. Our room was spacious, comfortable and elegantly furnished, at the top of a flight of ancient white stone steps. A friendly, family business, including olive oil production and sales.

Torre Bruno was just what we needed after a busy time in Sorrento and other Italian cities. Lucia was an excellent host with great flare and endless energy, and she catered to our needs! We were in great hands in this picturesque lodging only 2km from the village we were visiting.

Hostess Lucia was very accommodating and attentive. We had relatives nearby who dropped by and Lucia welcomed them in making everyone feel at home. She surprised us with home baking that was delicious! Also served a great breakfast.

1. We arrived shortly before 3.00pm. the notified checking in time. Despite entering the building and also sounding the car horn it was not until 3.30 when a lady appeared which was after we’d phoned through and spoken to her son who let her know we’d arrived. There was no contact bell on the reception desk. 2. We parked in a gravel area behind the building, full of ****s, totally unkempt with just one battered car. There was no attraction in the garden with any attempt at plants or flowers. 3. The only sign of life, two cats with very evident advanced stages of mange and two dogs who were in serious need of grooming. 4. Finally into the property to find one of the steepest stone staircases (the height of the risers being about 50% greater than normal), no prior notice on the *********** website 5. Outside at the front of the property a small lawn with four tables, no umbrellas or sun shields. We had prebooked dinner, could we eat outside? No, the cats jump on the tables 6. My wife has been suffering from a chest infection and not eating. Today, we were charged €20 for the 4 squares of ravioli that she was served (at the lady’s insistence she suggested she tried to eat but I ended up having them myself). 7. In the room there were no glasses of any sort, glass, cardboard or plastic. The bathroom as basic as could be with minimum-sized plastic shower cubicle; there was no plug in the basin (just a gaping hole – don’t drop anything down into it!). 8. Shutters that have seen better days seemingly impossible to close so we had to call the owner who closed them for us 9. And then finally from this so called ‘wonder chef’ Breakfast consisted of a croissant, small piece of cake, two pre-wrapped butter pats and two tiny jars of jam, plastic portioned spreads. Any meat, cheese or eggs totally missing. Commercial fruit juice in a small bottle. A selection of fruit.

After some hectic days in cities, it was very nice to spend two nights at Torre Bruno in the beautiful and very peaceful Carpino nature. The helpful host can only speak Italian, but it went fine. When the son came to visit, we were able to find out a little more about Torre Bruno. The food was homemade - local and very delicious.

The setting is absolutely fantastic: a beautiful and colorful garden, surrounded by thousands and thousands of olive trees. When you take a walk to the top of the hill you can enjoy a beautiful scenery of the green surroundings and lake Varano.The farmhouse itself has been renovated with great taste . Rooms are spacious and simply beautiful. The host , la signora Lucia is a best cook : we have enjoyed every single one of her home made meals… a culinary experience. And not to forget , their own olive oil is of very high quality and taste as well . Highly recommended for own use at home and for beautiful presents in its nice bottles and cans. We are going to be back as soon as we go back to the Gargano. After few days there you feel rested and full of energy.

L'agriturismo Torre Bruno ha restituito nuova vita a una delle torri di guardia costruite nei secoli passati a difesa del nostro paese. La Torre, grazie alle cure della famiglia Bruno, a Carpino nel cuore del Gargano offre ai viaggiatori tutti i confort che rendono indimenticabile un soggiorno. Donna Lucia, forte e generosa padrona di casa, grazie alle pietanze che prepara con grande cura e attenzione, offre agli ospiti l'opportunità di conoscere i saperi e gustare i sapori dei piatti della tradizione gastronomica della terra dei Dauni.

Notte trascorsa in questo luogo caratteristico ristrutturato recentemente. Abbiamo trovato pulizia e cordialità e una bellissima e spaziosa camera ben arredata. Anche la cena e’ stata ottima. In più abbiamo acquista l’ottimo olio prodotto dai proprietari
