Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains

A fantastic location and hotel experience. It's not 5-star, but it's close. The tents have a ton of character. They are immaculate. Their only deficiencies are flimsy / too-soft mattresses and (in ours, at least) a shower with water that alternated between cold and warm (the water pressure was totally normal/fine, however). The toilet and sink worked as they would anywhere else; no disappointments or surprises there. No sign whatsoever of bugs/insects within the tent. There is no A/C in the tents, though there are some small (but too-cheap/weak) fans on the bedside tables. The hotel's staff was fantastic: all enthusiastic and unfailingly friendly & polite (they are definitely "5-star"-quality staff). One of our only other substantive critiques is that the cocktail / beer / wine selection is very limited, and those mixed-drinks that were available weren't well made; there's no professional bartender or conventional bar available on site. The hotel could use a seasoned/experienced full-time bartender. The breakfast and dinner menus were somewhat limited but very nicely done. The setting won't disappoint; it's very much a Smokies location, with the tents placed throughout a well-mowed meadow and surrounded by Eastern Tennessee's lushness.

We traveled to Under Canvas in the Smoky Mountains with our 10-year-old daughter and truly enjoyed our stay! We had easy access to the National Park and booked 2 adventures through their off-site experiences - ziplining and white water rafting. Both were with top notch companies! We love the camp vibe and the secluded nature of the campground. We would stay here or at another Under Canvas property in a heartbeat.

This place is so amazing, and wonderful for those who may have some accessibility concerns. I used a motorized scooter and was able to access everything, including having restrooms with showers that I could use easily! The staff was phenomenal (alaine) the supervisor for our stay even went above and beyond to make sure I could easily charge my scooter. It’s the perfect balance of going offline, camping, but also having the ability to be fully comfortable. I would recommend to anyone going to the smokies! Not far at all from Dollywood and other amenities.

Second under canvas experience and once again didn’t disappoint. These are great places for families or couples. Close proximity to GSMNP. Food is good too. Staff are very friendly. Highly recommend.

The tent was very roomy. No water leaks when it rained. Beds were comfortable. We stayed in the deluxe tent with shower and bath. The shower warmed up quickly. My adult son joined us. Plenty of room for 3 people. Food at the camp was healthy and enjoyed having a place right there to eat so we did not have to drive. Activities were fun and enjoyed the live music. Fire pits lit every night with complementary s'mores.

We stayed at under canvas smokey mountains for a girls trip and had a fantastic time especially thanks to the kind and helpful staff! Would love to visit again as it was a great place to relax and enjoy the mountains !

Clean and outstandin place, with the best staff always ready to assist you, close to the main towns and park entrace...

There is no lack of charm at SMUC- the staff are warm, the atmosphere is amazing, the food is top notch, and the activities are so thought out! There is nothing that they didn’t think of to create a luxuriously cozy feeling,

We've stayed at a few UC Locations and are trying to visit as many as possible. While the staff was incredibly kind this was our least favorite UC experience. There were a few reasons. First, the food at this location was lacking. In the past we have loved the food at UC Zion and Grand Canyon, here it was pretty average especially when considering cost to value. We ended up eating away from camp more that we would have in the past. Secondly, much of the camp staff seemed pretty green and unable to make expert recommendations. We asked for trail and restaurant recommendations and were let down with what we got from staff on both fronts. Overall the camp is beautiful, but we would likely say that this Under Canvas is skippable compared to the others we've visited.
