ผผู้เข้าพักI spent a wonderful two weeks here in April / May, and absolutely loved it - my calmest, easiest experience in China so far. The hotel is clean and beautiful, the quality of everything in the rooms is very high, but it still has a ‘homestay’ feel - the balance is just right. The roof terrace has a gorgeous view of the mountains and is very relaxing, the hosts are kind and helpful (no English is spoken, but WeChat works well). The street is quiet, but it’s only a few minutes’ walk to great street food, cafes, bars and restaurants. I absolutely recommend this hotel and will return if I’m ever in Dali again.

ผผู้เข้าพักThe Chunrili is at attractive hotel with open hallways and a courtyard in the center, featuring a charming stream and garden, where kids can have lots of fun and adults can admire the charm. I had a very divided experience. My room was large, the bed comfortable, the bathroom large and hot water ample. The A/C worked fine. All good. But... The rooms have essentially a wall of glass (big windows) facing the open hallways and the courtyard. This means any noise at all echoes up the stone walls of the courtyard and is not dampened at all. My room also lacked a desk and a chair, both of which I missed greatly. Finally, on one especially rainy night (rain being quite common in DaLi), I was awaken by staff pounding on my door: my room was flooding! Water in the open hallway was seeping under my door and onto my floor. I've never experienced the like. And since no luggage rack is provided, either, it was pure luck that my bags weren't soaked. This flooding must happen rather often, and is a serious design flaw. Now, the owners were helpful and charming generally, providing our long-stay group free transport from the DaLI train station. And they keep a fleet of electric scooters that guests may borrow and use to get around. That was wonderful. Finally, the Chunrili is not near much, and in particular, restaurants are rather rare in its neighborhood. Those that exist I would recommend, but more variety was wanted.

RR.T.xDuring my recent stay at this hotel I had an excellent experience. The hotel itself was modern and spacious, offering all the comfort I needed. It was also located just outside the ancient town, which was only a short five-minute walk away, making it very convenient. There were also plenty of food options nearby, so I never had to worry about where to eat (thought honestly even if the restaurants nearby are not your liking it’s quite easy to get food delivered using one of the food delivery apps). What truly set this place apart was the exceptional service from the manager. She was genuinely friendly and incredibly helpful, going out of her way to ensure I had a great stay. Since I arrived two days before the May Day holiday, she advised me to plan my trip around Er Hai Lake a day early to avoid the holiday crowds. I’m so grateful for this advice because my trip around the lake was smooth and enjoyable, with minimal crowds. By the time I was heading back to the hotel, I could already see the traffic building up with the incoming holiday tourists and I can only imagine how bad the traffic was around the lake the next day. According to the driver it is not uncommon to encounter standstill traffic at around parts of the lake requiring around 2-3 hours to clear during the peak periods. Not only did she provide valuable advice, but she also arranged a driver for my lake trip on very short notice, and at a price much better than what I could find elsewhere. Her local knowledge didn’t end there—she recommended great places to eat and gave me tips on where to buy local specialties and what to avoid, which really helped me make the most of my time in Dali. One general tip would be to be selective of the stores in the ancient town as they might not offer the best value. I would however recommend adding the hotel on WeChat prior to arriving just in the event that you encounter some difficulty in locating the hotel since it is not located along the main road, there is however direct road access to the main door of the hotel. Overall, the hospitality here was outstanding, and I genuinely felt well taken care of. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Dali.

Since there are 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids, we had a big room and a smaller room joined together with 2 large beds. The view was amazing. Upon arrival, it was 4.45pm, and we asked for recommendations of where to eat. However, since it's neither dinner nor lunch time, the owner Mr Hao suggested that we eat in the guesthouse itself. The guest house auntie cooked for us the best rice noodles that we have eaten so far. Springy white noodles in a bowl of hot flavourful broth. My kids slurped it all up and polished the whole big bowl. When we asked for recommendations on local eating places, Mr Hao gave us a whole list of his specially curated food places, which we managed to try 2 of them. And indeed they were good. The downside was that there were no coffee or tea sachets in the room. But they said they will make it for us and can send it to our rooms. They mentioned that they have a tea room. And so we enjoyed the 2 types of brewed puer tea while Mr Hao explained a little about the tea. Personally, I feel that since they have a special tea room to enjoy tea, sending sachet or tea bags would be inappropriate and a disrespect to the art of enjoying Puer tea. Location wise, it has a good view of the lake. And it's quiet. It's not exactly near the old town but we took a taxi (20 mins) to the old town. Thankfully, we didn't stay at the old town as it's way too crowded, and we felt it's a tourist trap. However, near the guest house, there were many highly recommended restaurants. The guest house has a dining area on the 1st floor. One thing that I really enjoyed about this place is the dining area. The lady that cooked the meal for us looked like a typical chinese grandma (which reminded me of my late grandma) that she cooked the food so deliciously with passion. While we had our breakfast she would sit at another table, she wasnt staring , just casually sitting while browsing her phone or ensuring we finish our food but her presence reminded me of when my late grandma would sit and watch us eat to ensure we have no leftovers. Lol. It was an oddly familiar and nostalgic feeling that we laughed about. But we do get the homey feel, which we really liked. The guest house also had a laundry room for guests to use. The guest house owners were very initiative, friendly, and helpful. Anything we need, we just let Mr Hao know, and he would reply. He even offered to send us back to the highway station. It's definitely highly recommended. And I would ask my friends that should they come to Dali, they should stay in this place. It's just perfect for us.
