Dream Island • Huo Mountain is a resort hotel that has grown from the red land, embodying the aesthetics of life, local culture, art, and architectural design. It is also a time vessel, the result of 12 years of dedication by its architect and owner, Baxun.
Dream Island began in 2020 as a small-scale hotel next to the Erhai Lake, with just 7 rooms. In 2021, Dream Island • Huo Mountain briefly emerged with 9 rooms. After four years of reconstruction, it has now evolved into a vacation paradise rooted in the soul of the land, offering 23 rooms.
This is not a cold, luxurious space, but rather an experiment in cultural awakening, artistic appreciation, and life healing.
"Fantastic view, great food (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, supper), great coffee and alcohol, impressive architectural and interior design, comfortable bed and sofa.
However, (1) it takes 40min of meandering uphill drive to get to the hotel with 800m elevation gain from the nearby Shuanglang town; (2) the shower temperature is not stable; (3) laundry service is very poor.
Overall, a unique experience: I’m glad that I stayed here, but I probably won’t stay again."
