Mr Bean Holiday was one of the biggest surprises of our trip to Borneo. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn't simply a hotel but a family business run with genuine pride. We arrived late, and our driver pointed to a gentleman quietly sitting in the restaurant, saying, ”That's the Chinese owner. He's always here looking after the family business.” We soon realised he was right. Every morning the owner was there, greeting guests and making sure everything ran perfectly. That level of care is rare. The peaceful location, just a few minutes from Semporna's jetty, is ideal. After a day exploring pristine islands, crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs and extraordinary marine life, returning here felt wonderfully relaxing. The complimentary shuttle made getting around effortless. The rooms were spotless, the beds comfortable, the large swimming pool was perfect for unwinding, and complimentary drinking water was always available. Nothing felt neglected. The restaurant was another highlight. We enjoyed excellent seafood and authentic Malaysian cuisine, while our children were equally well looked after with familiar favourites. Every meal was fresh, delicious and fairly priced. Mr Bean Holiday doesn't try to be something it isn't. Instead, it delivers sincere hospitality, thoughtful service, comfort and exceptional value. We would return without hesitation.

Jono’s homestay was of the following advantages - just located in town, easy to reach dive shops & pier - clean and cosy rooms - Friendly boss & staffs with proactive assistance - Public bath was clean & tidy with sufficient shampoo + shower gel I will definitely come back for my next dive in Semporna

Room is clean, neat, strong AC, good water pressure for shower ahaha. Hotel located in a local household area, about 3km-4km distance to the town. They do provide pick up service from the port to the hotel during our check in day as well as shuttle van service btw 6:30-8:30 evening.

We stayed here expecting a bit more because the hotel had so many excellent reviews. Overall, our stay was fine, but it didn't quite live up to those expectations. The room was clean, with fresh towels and bed linen, and the bathroom was generally in good condition. The shower drain was clogged when we arrived, but after we informed the staff, they came and fixed it quickly, so it was only an issue for the first day. The air conditioning worked very well, although it was difficult to find a comfortable temperature at night as it tended to get very cold. There is a small swimming pool, which was nice, but it only had a couple of sun loungers and they were quite dirty, so we didn't really feel like using them. Breakfast was included, but unfortunately we didn't feel comfortable eating there. Some of the buffet dishes were left partially uncovered, and with the warm temperature in the breakfast area, the food didn't look particularly appealing. We also noticed that the shared refrigerator was quite dirty, which didn't inspire much confidence. We decided not to eat there and had breakfast elsewhere every morning instead. One feature we really appreciated was the free self-service laundry. Having washing machines available, together with laundry detergent, was extremely convenient and a big plus during our trip. The staff were polite and pleasant whenever we interacted with them. They weren't especially warm or proactive, but they were helpful when we needed assistance, such as fixing the shower drain. Overall, this is a decent place to stay if you're looking for something simple, but based on our experience, we don't think it quite matches the exceptionally high ratings it currently has.

Budget-friendly stay with excellent staff, but don’t expect a prime location We stayed at Luna Guesthouse for 3 nights. This accommodation is a reasonable choice for budget travelers who mainly need a place to sleep while exploring Semporna. The biggest highlight was definitely the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help, making the stay much more pleasant. The room was spacious and had the basic amenities needed for a short stay, including air conditioning and Wi-Fi. However, cleanliness could definitely be improved. The room wasn’t as clean as expected, and more attention to housekeeping would make a big difference. The location is another drawback. It’s about 10–15 minutes on foot from the town center, restaurants, and the jetty, so be prepared to walk or use local transportation if you’re carrying luggage or heading out early for island tours. Pros: * Friendly and helpful staff * Spacious room * Good value for budget travelers * Basic amenities provided Cons: * Cleanliness needs improvement * Quite far from the center and main attractions (10–15 minutes’ walk) Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable place to stay and don’t mind the walk into town, Luna Guesthouse can be a practical option. Just keep your expectations realistic regarding cleanliness and location.

和國內的旅店/賓館差不多，比國內的經濟型連鎖酒店比如如家或者格林豪泰都簡陋不少，沙巴這邊酒店普遍要比國內低兩個星級的感覺，我在亞庇住的萬豪旗下的艾美酒店也和國內全季酒店相當，所以不用期待太好。 衞生還算乾淨，早晚經常有人大喇叭唸經…整體算還行。 距離碼頭兩公里，打車6-8RM，可以去海鮮市場屠龍刀砍價還是很有樂趣的！
