My solo traveler holiday to Oludeniz was excellent. It was my first visit to Turkiye, and I was keen to ease myself into the holiday. The journey there was event free - my extra legroom seat on the flight was a good choice - arriving relaxed and rested. Although my late night arrival at the hotel was very informal and without much guidance from the limited staff on duty, the welcome was warm and assuring. My first 24 hours of orientation was also very relaxed, and I met TUI rep Serkan (Muhittin Serkan Zaman)- who was to become a great asset to me across the fortnight. His insights, and readiness to learn what I wanted from the holiday - revealed a truly person-centred mindset. His life experience and his warmth encouraged me to venture out across the days. I explored the area, using dolmuş bus services to get about. I booked a few excursions through Serkan, and they were all high quality. The Marcan Resort Hotel is a nicely appointed hotel and is staffed well. All staff I met struck me as being committed to making the place work well, and were happy to hear my feedback on minor things I noted. It seemed that early May marked the on-ramping (I think that is what we would call it, these days) of new staff, and they were working with each other to build their knowledge and skills. I arrived right at the start of the season, and the maintenance team were clearly busy fixing bits and pieces. I found that the bidet facility on the combination toilet was constantly flowing, and my minor irritation was acted upon without delay. However it was never quite fixed. It was a very minor issue. The pool is very well maintained and the whole environment around it was very pleasing - a nice space - catching the sun while affording the opportunity to gaze upwards at the acrobatics of Oludeniz’s famous paragliding daredevils, descending overhead to the beach 500 metres away. The dining experience at Marcan resort was a daily highlight, every dish served with assurance and enthusiasm by the chef and his team, who were ever-present in the dining area. Breakfast was as varied as you would wish. There is a fresh fried egg / omelette / pancake stand, so diners can request what they like, alongside the hard boiled and scrambled onions. I requested an apple pancake a couple of times, and the resulting dish was a delight. The mood is relaxed, informal and everyone seems very keen that you enjoy the food. Lunch and dinner were always something to anticipate with some pleasure. Each dish - mostly, I think - showcasing Turkish lokanta cuisine. It was always cooked with care, and the staff were keen to explain the dishes if required. My favourites were the various grilled fish dishes, and the lovely salads that I could assemble from the many platters. Fresh fruit became more abundant as the days went by. All inclusive hotels do seem to struggle a bit when it comes to desert dishes - the ubiquity of cake, in all its forms - is a staple. Here the cakes were varied, pro
