Margaret - Hôtel Chouleur

The hotel cannot be reached by car, as it is in the pedestrian-only section of the old city. So whatever luggage you bring, you will have to take it from the city car-park (a few blocks away) to the hotel yourself. Further, the hotel has no elevator, so if you're on the 3rd floor, you will have to take it upstairs.

Hotel in an old building “classé ». Being upgraded I got a huge suite under the roof. Really amazing with a big charming bathroom . Staff is very friendly and taking care of your requests efficiently. Position is very good close to the Roman arena and in a pedestrian area. I enjoyed also the library room working from there.

I prefer staying in a boutique hotel over a larger hotel and the Margaret Hotel Chouleur fit exactly what I was looking for. This is a stylish, comfortable, well-run hotel that we were always happy to return to after a day of touring the sites. The location is excellent, on a quiet pedestrian street in old-town Nimes. The building has been tastefully refurbished and mixes old with new in a pleasing manner. Our room had high ceilings and was tastefully appointed. The staff at the desk were friendly and helpful and the restaurant was very good. If/when I return to Nimes, I will stay here again. Worth noting: As there are no cars allowed in much of old town Nimes, you have to walk 3-5 minutes to get to the hotel. The hotel is old and, as such, doesn't have an elevator. The stairway, though, is actually an attractive feature of the hotel -- wide, well-lit, with interesting art adorning the walls.

Margaret - Hotel Chouleur is conveniently located. It can be a tranquil oasis after a busy morning (or afternoon) of sight-seeing and shopping. Every staff member with whom we interacted - starting with Lou, who checked us in - was gracious, helpful, and kind. Our room was large and well-appointed. The hotel's library and garden/pool area add heavily to its charm. Also, in the "IYKYK" category, Margaret-Hotel Chouleur features Diptyque toiletries, including the lait frais body lotion. Why four stars? Two reasons, neither of which is a fault of the hotel, but both of which can have a less favorable impact on one's stay. First, because the hotel is in an historic site, there is no elevator. Hotel staff are more than eager to carry bags to and from your room. However, if you happen to be in a top-floor room, it may be difficult to reach if you have any type of walking impediment. Second, and this is seasonally specific, apparently Nimes has a "mardi gras"-type Primafesca celebration, which we happened to hit. That meant, from around 8 p.m. - 2 a.m., our room became part of a disco so loud you could feel the bass. This may be a desirable feature for those for whom Mardi Gras should be more than once a year. However, we wished we had been advised of this prior to making our reservations (maybe we would have brought beads!) -- and now you are so advised!

What an unbelievable find! Margaret - Hotel Chouleur wildly exceeded our expectations. Our family of 5 stayed in two rooms, the family suite and a superior room. Both were fabulous - spotless, luxe design, and HUGE with so much storage space. You can tell the owner and staff pay close attention to the details, everything is beautiful and feels very special. Everyone at the hotel was amazing, SO attentive, friendly, and helpful. This is a very special hotel and we're so glad we stayed here. We will absolutely stay again without hesitation! Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.

Exquisite boutique hotel in the heart of town. Stayed here for a weekend and found it thoroughly enjoyable. The old town building has been renovated to a high standard, each room has its own character and layout. A small fitness room, a terrace and small pool add to the ensemble. Staff are very committed and friendly.

Our room was upgraded free of charge. We had a fantastic room with walk-in wardrobe, sitting area and giant bathroom complete with separate bath and rain shower. Lots of nice touches including choice of towels, luxury soaps, gels and shampoos. Breakfasts were lovely and made to order which is unusual these days.

.extraordinary luxury "hotel particulier" recently renovated by designer architect stayed one night in November 2023. Was upgraded to upper suite, all luxury, beautifull bathrooms, patio, restaurants, excellent breakfast, beautifull stones and moldings in Nimes' pedestrian area. Park at public parking and call frontdesk to come and get your luggages with a cart. Many restaurants and shopping nearby. walking distance to museums and Arenes

A welcoming, professional and attentive staff make any stay in this refined hotel delightful. A clean, tasteful renovation of a classic, historic building achieved great results which would appeal to every taste. Highly recommended, worth a long weekend trip made exclusively to see the hotel and experience the city and surrounding area.
